I hope you’ve been enjoying our Adelaide summer doing those things warm weather prompts you to do. Our Rotary year is just now beginning to get under way. There’s a Club Board meeting this Thursday evening and next Tuesday Community Service meetings re-commence.
But there’s some unfortunate news. Yvette must have been sitting too close to Rob… on Sunday 8th, she fell and broke her hip with a replacement installed at Calvary Hospital 30 hours later. Despite this setback, Yvette is in good spirits and doggedly following all her physio recovery challenges. I’m sure she’d appreciate a visit if you can manage it.
This Thursday is our last breakfast at the Terrace Hotel as their prices will rise more than 50% to focus on corporate conferences. It’s sad but don’t despair, we’ve good options ahead with a new phase for our club from Thursday February 9. More news on that next week.
Thursday 26 January is the Australia Day holiday, so our next Coffee Conversation is Thursday February 2 at White Picket Café in Dulwich. Otherwise, don’t forget our Club’s wine sales and as the need arises, you can Order some here. Rob and I will be pleased to retrieve our lounge room space!
Our next fund raising BBQ at Bunnings Mile End is Monday 13 February and Di will soon be calling for volunteers, so do please help us then.
After the amazing success of our Rotary Clubs Riesling offered earlier this year, we have secured a local red wine for you to consider, enabling you to stock up for Christmas.
McLaren Vale is renowned for its excellent shiraz and this Chalk Hill Shiraz represents wonderful value, normally $22 per bottle, our club's fundraising offer is just $150.00 for a dozen. ($12.50 a bottle)
This delicious, easily drinkable wine is clean and smooth without unpleasant tannin aftertaste, so it's rapidly becoming a favoured wine.
