At our next Planning Meeting on September 17th the club will discuss the success of this move. Join us there at 7 for 7:15am for breakfast. A message from President Miriam
"I'm hoping to come back to Adelaide next week Wednesday and look forward to seeing you all at Rotary on Thursday 17th September"
Last week's meeting
Last week's speaker was Bashar Baghdadi for spoke on the topic "What's going on in the Middle East - an update".
Bashar last spoke to our club in October 2014 about the difficulties of life in this troubled area of our world - something of which he has first-hand experience. Given the ever-changing situation, it was good to hear from him again. There were 18 million people in Syria before the troubles started. Now, 4 million of them have left - mostly in appalling conditions in refugee camps in surrounding countries. Those In Jordan are doing rather better, and are happy to stay there in the hope of getting back home when things improve. Those heading into Turkey just want to move on and, if they can, get as far as Germany in the hope of a better life. And there are 8 different "militias" all struggling for power. What a mess!
