Stories
President's Pen
Writing this on Sunday evening, I am looking forward to attending the Birthing Kit assembly evening tomorrow night at the Riverside Rowing Club. Organizer Kirsti is thrilled with the numbers and has had to cap the evening with 47 indicating attendance. The weather forecast suggests that it will be ideal to have a drink on the balcony before the pizza arrives. Kirsti and her parents have been very generous in making sure that this event is a great success.

This Thursday morning,1st. October is a Coffee Conversation from 9.30am at the White Picket Fence in Dulwich.

Saturday 3rd. October will be the 3rd. working bee morning for Catherine House commencing at 9am. If you are available, please contact our coordinator, Katey Halliday for details.

Our club's strategic committee is meeting at the Cumberland Hotel in the city on Tuesday 6th. Oct. for our 3rd. meeting.

The club's next face to face breakfast meeting is on Thursday 8th. Oct. and our guest speaker will be Raagini whose topic will be the club's Sustainable Development Goals to assist us in positioning ourselves. This is a subject I know little about and am very excited to learn more.

As part of tomorrow night's event we plan to run a raffle and Katrina has very generously donated 6 bottles of wine and John the Jeweller is donating an item from his Hyde Park shop.

Fundraising
Unfortunately, Bunnings at Kent Town have put our possible selling of Christmas Trees in December on hold due to Covid19 restrictions, however this may change after mid-November.

Secondly, the Adelaide City Council have rejected our proposal for a trial op shop in the Central Market.

However, the fundraising committee is investigating a proposal by John the Jeweller to run a wine raffle which looks to have great potential.

Hat Day

In October, Australian Rotary Health encourages Rotary Clubs to get involved in Hat Day as part of the “Lift The Lid on Mental Illness” campaign.

On Thursday 22 October at our meeting, John Campbell, S.A. chair of ARH, will speak briefly on the work and research of ARH.

Please wear a hat to breakfast on this day, plus donate $5 to ARH for the pleasure of doing so (eftpos available).  Be prepared to tell the story of your chosen hat........you may be rewarded!

End Polio Now - Movie Fundraiser
END POLIO NOW MOVIE FUNDRAISER

The Rotary Foundation has negotiated for Rotarians, their families, and friends to exclusively see the movie I AM WOMAN on the BIG screen. This will be your only opportunity to see the film at the cinema.

This fabulous movie will be showing at The Regal Theatre 275 Kensington Rd, Kensington Park SA 5068 on Saturday, 31st October 2020 at 5.00 pm.  The early timeslot gives ample opportunity to go out to dinner following the movie.

This is a fundraising event for the End Polio Now Campaign, but will also be a great opportunity to get together.
Profits from ticket sales will go to your Rotary Club’s End Polio Rotary Foundation Contributions.

Tickets can be obtained by contacting D9510 Foundation Committee Chair Marie-louise Lees by email: FoundationChair@Rotary9510.org or by Phone 0408 134 363.

This will be an absolutely fabulous get together and it would be great if you showed your presence there. When Rotarians come together for a cause greater than themselves – to bring hope to others – good things happen.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement
