By now you will all have received my email notifying you that the Stamford Plaza is being converted into a quarantine hotel and our first breakfast meeting in our new venue, the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel at 125 North Terrace will be this Thursday 8th. October arriving at 7am for a 7.15 start. when our guest speaker Raagini's topic will be the club's Sustainable Development Goals. A compulsory attendance fee of $20.00 applies and I will require confirmation of your attendance by 5.00pm each Tuesday prior to our Thursday meeting please.
The Birthing Kit Event.
Held at the Riverside Rowing Club this was a highly successful occasion with 47 attending which included members from Adelaide City Rotaract and Adelaide Uni Rotaract Clubs, plus a large contingent from Kirsti's workplace. Thanks to Katrina and John the Jeweller for providing wine and pearl earrings to enable the raffle to raise $240.00.
Finally, a special thanks to Kirsti for coordinating the event and to ensure its success, she and her parents donated one thousand dollars to purchase 200 additional kits, a wonderful gesture.
Catherine House Working Bee
Unfortunately, last Saturday's working bee had to be postponed due to some concrete work which needs to be completed by the Housing Trust before forman Kym will give us the go ahead with our garden beautification project in conjunction with the Rotaract Club.
Strategic Meeting.
Together with our younger members and John W., we will be meeting for the 3rd time this coming Tuesday 6th. Oct. to continue with suggestions on how we can grow our club and become more appealing to the currently missing 40 to 55 age group.
Bunnings MileEnd Barbeque
Bunnings have offered us a barbie on Saturday 5th. December, and as soon as we have received the revised covid19 instructions on the numbers required, Di will be sending out a request for volunteers.
To make things interesting I am hoping that we will be also selling Christmas Trees on the same day
at a new location in the city as Bunnings Kent Town can currently not accommodate us.
In October, Australian Rotary Health encourages Rotary Clubs to get involved in Hat Day as part of the “Lift The Lid on Mental Illness” campaign.
On Thursday 22 October at our meeting, John Campbell, S.A. chair of ARH, will speak briefly on the work and research of ARH.
Please wear a hat to breakfast on this day, plus donate $5 to ARH for the pleasure of doing so (eftpos available). Be prepared to tell the story of your chosen hat........you may be rewarded!
The Rotary Foundation has negotiated for Rotarians, their families, and friends to exclusively see the movie I AM WOMAN on the BIG screen. This will be your only opportunity to see the film at the cinema.
This fabulous movie will be showing at The Regal Theatre 275 Kensington Rd, Kensington Park SA 5068 on Saturday, 31st October 2020 at 5.00 pm. The early timeslot gives ample opportunity to go out to dinner following the movie.
This is a fundraising event for the End Polio Now Campaign, but will also be a great opportunity to get together.
Profits from ticket sales will go to your Rotary Club’s End Polio Rotary Foundation Contributions.

The bartender asks the guy sitting at the bar, 'What'll you have?' The guy answers, 'A scotch, please.'
The bartender hands him the drink, and says 'That'll be five dollars,' to which the guy replies, 'What are you talking about? I don't owe you anything for this.'
A lawyer, sitting nearby and overhearing the conversation, then says to the bartender, 'You know, he's got you there. In the original offer, which constitutes a binding contract upon acceptance, there was no stipulation of remuneration.'
The bartender was not impressed, but says to the guy, 'Okay, you beat me for a drink. But don't ever let me catch you in here again.'
The next day, same guy walks into the bar. Bartender says, 'What the heck are you doing in here? I can't believe you've got the audacity to come back!'
The guy says, 'What are you talking about? I've never been in this place in my life!'
The bartender replies, 'I'm very sorry, but this is uncanny. You must have a double.' To which the guy replies, 'Thank you. Make it a scotch.'
