Stories
President's Pen
Last Thursday morning saw a very successful Board meeting at my place, where we dealt with a large range of topics. It was decided that after ten very successful years, it was time to discontinue financially supporting the Columbian Education Project and seek international projects closer to home.

Many of the Board members then departed for the White Picket Fence for a Coffee Conversation.

The vast majority of members have now put their names down to be part of a club committee and I am waiting on just a few to make a decision. Everyone's names have been forwarded to the appropriate Committee Director who will organize a get together to discuss potential activities.

Our next club breakfast meeting is this coming Thursday morning, so please RSVP to me by this Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, I will be an apology as I will be in Port Lincoln, however John W. will be chairing the meeting. John will bring everyone up to date with the conversation from last Wednesday evening's get together when suggested community projects were discussed. This will be an opportunity for all members to participate.

Regards,
Rob

Caring for the Environment Project

Following his visit to our Group 12 meeting recently, Gerry Butler has organised a visit to the site at Pakapakanthi / Victoria Park on Sunday 28 March at 10:00am.

This will be an opportunity to see the habitat of a large population of the Chequered Copper (Lucia limbaria) Butterfly in a grassy woodland, in the middle of one of the City of Adelaide's largest parklands.  We've seen the video - let's see it in real life.  Bring your camera with you.  It will also be an opportunity to learn more about how we can be involved in this project - physically and financially.  (Butterfly Conservation SA is looking for funding of $2,000 for the project.)

Cars can be parked either near the corner of East Terrace and South Terrace and walk due east about 200 metres; or in Grant Avenue and walk south-west about 300 metres.

As this is an outdoor event we will be subject to the vagaries of the weather and so people need to dress accordingly.  In the event of heavy rain the walk will be postponed.

Enquiries:  Gerry Butler, Chairman Butterfly Conservation SA:   0407 972 149,

Please share this news with members of your club and encourage as many as possible to attend on the day.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
This happened to a very drunk Englishman in France.

The French policeman stops his car and asks the gentleman if he has been drinking. With great difficulty, the Englishman admits that he has been drinking all day, that his daughter got married in the morning to a French man, and that he drank champagne and a few bottles of wine at the reception and a quite few glasses of single malt there-after.

Quite annoyed, the policeman proceeds to breath test him and asks the Englishman if he knows under French Law why he is going to be arrested.

The Englishman answers with humour: No sir, I do not! But while we're asking questions, do you know that this is a British car and my wife is driving... on the other side???
