Dr Sally Nobbs spoke at our meeting last Thursday about the long association that Wilderness School has with communities in Nepal, both education and medical based facilities. She outlined the projects already carried out, ongoing service provision required and the encouragement provided to students to trek in Nepal, the School provided scholarships for 11 primary school-aged Nepalese students throughout their primary and secondary years, and they provide assistance to the Nepalese communities while visiting with their Year 10,11 and 12 students.
Our club has, with great satisfaction and a sense of achievement, now assembled six artificial hands as part of the “Hands On” project. We thank our facilitator Linda Sweeney for ensuring that we followed instructions to the completion stage and also Alfonso’s Café in Hutt Street for allowing us to use their premises for the afternoon and supplying water and coffee to sustain us. It was also a team building exercise for our club members and we look forward to hearing which country these hands will be transported to and from the team that travel to fit them. Perhaps even a response from the recipients!
Please lock in 6-8 April 2018 for our club visit to Calperum Station.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement
To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.
A man on his Harley was riding along a Victorian beach road when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish."
The biker pulled over and said "Build a bridge to Tasmania so I can ride over anytime I want."
God replied "Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind."
The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, "God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women. I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a woman truly happy."
God replied: "You want two lanes or four on that bridge?"
OR
After 10 years, the wife starts to think their kid looks kind of different, so she decides to do a DNA test. She finds out that the kid is actually from completely different parents.
Wife: "Honey, I have something very serious to tell you."
Husband: "What’s up?"
Wife: "According to DNA test results, this is not our kid."
Husband: "Well, you don’t remember, do you? When we were leaving the hospital, we noticed that our baby had pooped and you said,
“Please go and change the baby, I’ll wait here for you.” So I went inside, got a clean one and left the dirty one there."
Moral: Never give a man a job that doesn't belong to him.
