Our Club is steadily growing and we’re all pleased to make newest member Feisar Joya feel most welcome after he rejoined last Thursday (see photo below). When you’ve a chance to welcome him personally, he can explain his background possibly also whatever changes he’s observed since he was last a member several years ago.
At last weekend’s Rotaract Australia Awards, Adelaide City Rotaract President Nic Egan received a ‘Highly Commended award for an Outstanding Rotaract/Rotary Partnership. It refers to the jointly sponsored ‘Share the Dignity’ project between our Club and Adelaide City to provide the women’s period product dispensing machine we installed last March at the Watto Parrunna Aboriginal Health Service in Port Adelaide.
A spin-off from our Club’s Afghan refugee mentoring by several Club members outside of their Rotary roles, is not itself a Rotary project, but raises funds to help Afghans still trapped in Afghanistan. That non-Rotary fund was replenished last Tuesday as 60 Rumi Palace diners helped raise about $3,000 - great success due to a huge effort from Paige, Erfan and many others, complementing our Club’s refugee work to ensure some Taliban-persecuted folk still in Afghanistan can receive much needed cash to get them through just a bit longer.
This weekend, Yvette and Erfan will attend the Rotary Leadership Institute course at Charles Campbell College. So, watch out in the weeks to come as those two could be bristling with great new ideas and itching for a chance to implement them! Rob’s ‘Lost in a Forest’ pizza afternoon at Uraidla is also this weekend with a sunny 26C expected!
Our next Club meeting is breakfast at the Terrace on 10 November but this week there’s a ‘Coffee Conversation’ 9:30am Thursday 3 November at White Picket Café. Perhaps I’ll see you then… otherwise, maybe you’ve lucked a good horse in Tuesday’s Cup sweep?

Based on previous successes, our District 9510 ARH Committeehas again organised aSpring Wine Offer which has many benefits.
Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
The benefit to ARH is that based on orders, our wine merchant will donate to Australian Rotary Health - $36 per dozen of labelled wines, and $24 per dozen for cleanskins.
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share of that donation as part of your ARH fundraising this year.
The orders will close on 7th November, 2022, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 21st November 2022.

Noddy is 90 years old. He's played golf every day since his retirement 35 years ago.
One day he arrives home looking downcast. "That's it," he tells his wife. "I'm giving up golf. My eyesight has become so bad that once I hit the ball I can't see where it went."
His wife sympathises and makes him a cup of tea. As they sit down she says, "Why don't you take your old mate Milton, and give it one more try."
"That's no good" sighs Noddy, "Milton's a hundred and three. He can't help."
"He may be a hundred and three", says Noddy's wife, "but his eyesight is perfect."
So the next day Noddy heads off to the golf course with Milton. He tees up, takes a mighty swing and squints down the fairway. He turns to Milton and says, "Did you see the ball?"
"Of course I did!" replied Milton. "I have perfect eyesight".
