Thanks to those involved in our Mile End Bunnings BBQ last Tuesday, it replenished our Club accounts after a lean winter patch. It was a beautiful day with some added satisfaction seeing the till gently ticking over throughout. There’s another Mile End Bunnings BBQ next Monday… they help keep our revenue inflows reasonably even throughout the year with a few revenue bursts during warmer weather. One such revenue burst is our Grange raffle, which will soon begin… but more about that later.

Our Fred’s Van team went to work again last Wednesday and some photos below show a little of what’s involved. This time our two Club reps making up the team were Kirsti and Paige Honor, together with two Vinnie’s folk and a couple volunteer CEOs.

Last Thursday was another Coffee Conversation at the White Picket café - another lovely sunny spring day as you can see from the photo. Alison ventured out in her wheelchair with both feet elevated after submitting to the knife a week or so before. But her recovery is well underway and largely pain-free with good news anticipated when the surgeon inspects their work later this week.

The ‘Guess Who’ diners ventured out last weekend as three dining groups got to know some other Club members better over a meal together. Luckily, Kirsti’s forethought gave us a selfie for one of the three groups, capturing the atmosphere at John and Julie Campbell’s on Saturday night.

On Saturday after next (18^th Sept) , our Club is helping with a Bushfire Recovery fencing project at Tilbrook Estate Winery at Lenswood. We’ll be pulling down a fence, rolling up the old wire and putting it in a dump trailer. Kirsti has emailed out a registration form, so please come to help. Work starts at 9am, they have all the tools but wear old jeans, solid shoes and bring garden gloves. They’ll provide morning tea, then lunch and a wine tasting… so presumably no work thereafter.

Otherwise, our next breakfast meeting is this Thursday 9th September, and our guest speaker is Teresa Branch, Vinnies Fred's Van Coordinator… see you there.

Australian Rotary Health Wine offer

Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committee has again organised a wine offer which has many benefits. Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.

The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.

The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.

The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.

Let’s look at an example. If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club. That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it. Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.

With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders. The orders will close on Friday 29^th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date. We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15^th November.

I trust that you see the value of this offer to members and friends. This is a valuable way that we are helping you to help ARH and look forward to your support.

Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display; Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund to Bruce McDonald and empty bags to the next duty member, at the next meeting.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the General Havelock Hotel in Hutt Street.
Bread Run: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:55pm

Members rostered for Thursday morning duty are asked to be in attendance by 6.45am
