Hi, Rotarians and Friends.
 
This week’s combined Adelaide City Rotaract meeting on Wednesday 28 Sept is 6pm in the Astor Hotel.  On Thursday 13 October we’ve a Terrace Hotel breakfast with Brian Harvey’s ‘Life and Times’.  The Terrace Hotel is unavailable on Thursday 27 October, so we’ll have a Club Consultation meeting that evening in the Naval, Military and Air Force Club (cnr Hutt and Angas).
 
Last Saturday’s ‘Chat 2 Belong’ was a convivial morning tea among Rotarians and friends.  To shift from ‘belonging’ to conversation, we’ve renamed Chat2Belong as ‘Cuppa Conversation’ instead.  Club members, friends and those new to Oz are welcome every 4th Saturday at CIBO Espresso café on Hutt/Halifax.  The next one is 10-11:30am on Saturday 22nd October.
 
Thanks to volunteers at this weekend’s Bunnings BBQ on Monday, 3 October.  Also, a bush walk for members and friends this Saturday October 1st sets off at 9:30am from Trevor Tce, Blackwood.  A more leisurely Australian Rotary Health fundraiser walk is Sunday 9 October via Eastwood and Regency Park Rotary.  Click here to register.
 
Our community refugee mentoring program has successfully run all year, chaired by Katey within Kirsti’s Community Services group.  Some news - Erfan’s father, Abdullah now also has his driver’s licence while Erfan’s completed his Leadership program and has almost finished his TAFE Foundation studies.  Erfan has also been a popular guest speaker at many Rotary clubs in recent weeks.
 
Within our Youth program, Richard has advised that we’re sponsoring Natalie Teasdale of Aldgate to attend the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) at Nunyara in Belair this weekend (30Sep-2Oct).  Gilles Primary School’s newly arrived kids doing intensive English courses might benefit from our Cuppa Conversation with their mums and dads.
 
Your Club’s Board meets this Thursday night and Di Lane is now back from her overseas ventures - welcome back, Di and well done Richard in her absence!  😊Thankfully Alex has been keeping us ‘treasured’ in Bruce’s absence (Bruce returns in mid October).   
 
At this Wednesday evening’s Club meeting, Erfan and Carol will be inducted as new members, so do get along and make them welcome.  The next Coffee Conversation is 9:30am Thursday 6 October at White Picket café in Dulwich.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about  the speaker prior to the meeting.
Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display;  Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund to Bruce McDonald and empty bags to the next duty member, at the next meeting.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the Cumberland Arms Hotel, 205 Waymouth St. Adelaide.
Bread Run: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:55pm

Members rostered for Thursday morning duty are asked to be in attendance by 6.45am

“Honey!” yelled my husband from our bedroom, “you MUST check this out!
 
“What is it?” I called back from the kitchen.
 
“You’re not going to believe what I found when I was drilling a hole through the wall! I found a secret stash of bottles!”
 
Just then my I heard my daughter's voice hollering from the bathroom, “I’m trying to brush my teeth in here! Who's drilling a hole through the medicine cabinet!?”
