Our Planning Meeting last Thursday concentrated on me outlining to the club the presentation made to our Board the previous evening by Adelaide City Rotaractors, Katey and Kirsty.
It is planned for a small group from our club and the Rotaractors to work on a successful path enabling Rotaractors upon reaching the age of thirty to cross over to our club, which has not occurred up to now. A lot of change and massage to current thinking from both sides will need to be negotiated, however I am very confident we can make Adelaide Light appealing to Rotaractors in the future.
Our club ran a barbeque at Bunnings at Kent Town last Friday with moderate success with a net profit of $371.70.
Our next bbq. is at Bunnings at Mile End on Monday 15th. Oct and Di will be seeking volunteers for the roster.
Yesterday we had a very successful working bee at Catherine House with a lot of very enthusiastic volunteers. Kym together with his son Corey and grandson Aron led us in completing the paving under the pergola after we took delivery of a tip truck load of sand for the job. Four Rotaractors, Kirsti, Gregory, Karagh and Khoung together with Katrina, Julie (who supplied yummy scones) John (on sausage sizzle), Bruce, Liz, myself and Yvette (publicity photos) made up the very large team. We laid down a watering system which has been donated and completely weeded the front garden.
What's next? Our next working bee will be on Sat. 6th. Oct. which I know clashes with a Rotaract working bee of their own. We plan to be planting native shrubs and finishing off two paths that lead out from the pergola.
Our social evening is on Friday 5th. Oct. at the Riverside Rowing Club and there is car parking available overlooking the river between the Pulteney Boat Shed and Riverside.
The club calendar has been adjusted and this coming Thursday 27th. September is a club meeting beginning at 7am. for 7.15am start. BUT is being held at the Cafe Outside The Square, 34 Whitmore Square., Adelaide as a trial for another meeting venue. Car parking is plentiful in the surrounding streets and restrictions don't come into force until 8am.
The organization is a not-for-profit cafe with every dollar spent ends up helping people.
The cost of breakfast will be $18.00 and the offer will include the following.
A hot beverage (proper coffee)
Orange or apple juice
Fruit platter
Muesli or Croissant (ham/cheese/tomato) or Brioche (mushroom & egg) or Egg and Bacon Roll.
If there was sufficient demand for a egg and bacon full breakfast option instead of the afore mentioned four options the cost of the breakfast package would be $22 instead of $18.00
Can I ask all members to email me please with your menu preference by Wed. morning.
