At our meeting last Thursday the members voted to continue meeting on a fortnightly basis and after some constructive discussion it was resolved to remain for the present at the Royal Coach. However it was acknowledged that as a city club we should continue investigating for a city location.
I have emailed all members a calendar of our meeting dates and locations up until the end of March 2019.
On Saturday morning a short working bee at Catherine House with Kym, his son Corey, Bruce, Liz, Yvette and myself completed the project with some additional planting, mulch moving and assembly of the Stratco outdoor furniture. Now we are organizing a date for an official opening on a weekday afternoon?
Katrina will be organizing a collection of money from our members for our annual Christmas Food Hamper and for the first time, money for the Second Chances Charity which allows them to purchase toys for the children of prisoners.
On Saturday evening I joined DG. David Egan and Chris, Rotaractors and their friends, totalling approximately 25 and walked in the annual Adelaide Pride March which was an eye opener for me. The majority of group wore very bright pink tee shirts with the Rotaract logo and marched behind an excellent banner. A contingent of the SA Police marched behind our very colourful group.
This Sunday 18th. Nov. will be our last barbeque for this year at Bunnings at Kent Town and then we commence selling Christmas Trees there over the first three weekends of December where we will need 3 people for each shift please.

The Rotary Club of Adelaide Light will again be selling wonderful fresh Christmas Trees over the first three weekends of December at Bunnings at Kent Town.
Every tree sold helps to support a wide range of activities that assist our community.
This is the information re the ‘bag collection’ being conducted by my next door neighbour I mentioned at our meeting on Thursday.

‘What is ‘It's In The Bag?’
Each year Share the Dignity collects handbags filled with personal care products. These Christmas gifts are then distributed to homeless, at-risk and women experiencing domestic violence.
What can I donate?
Choose a handbag you no longer use or buy a new one, then fill it with items including shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, sanitary items and anything else you can think of that will make a woman feel special.’
I am hoping that some of you might have some largish handbags or small backpacks that you no longer need and are happy to donate. I will fill and take to Bunnings for collection. I would also appreciate any donations to fill the bags as well. I will be delivering the bags by the end of November.
Please bring your bags along to our meeting on Thursday 22nd November.

Twilight Cruise on the ‘One & All’
Following the success last year of our Twilight Summer Cruises, the Youth Sailing ‘One & All’ Committee is organising another cruise for Rotarians, their family and friends on Saturday, December 1st 2018.
As on previous cruises, you will be offered a variety of delicious food, soft drinks, tea and coffee while sailing majestically down the Port River and into the Gulf.
On board and helping to run the ship will be some of the students who were sponsored by local Rotary Clubs to take part in the October 5-day training voyage. They will happily discuss their sailing experiences and demonstrate some of their newly acquired rigging and ship handling skills!
Rotarians and their guests will need to gather at the McLaren Wharf, Port Adelaide at 5:15 pm for boarding. We will be returning shortly after 10:00 pm. Departure and return is dependent on the opening times of the bridge, so don’t be late or you may miss the boat!
The cost is $109 per person. Last year’s Cruises were very popular and booked out quickly – think about making this a special Club event and inviting friends. By taking part, you will be helping to support an exciting, new Rotary Youth program.
Adelaide City Rotaract Club will be hosting a movie night to see the next installment of Fantastic Beasts at the Capri Theatre on opening night, November 16th at 6pm. We are sure that it's going to be another magical evening and we hope to see many club members, friends, and family there.There will be doughnut bombs for sale, a raffle, and 15% of all bar sales will be going towards the funds raised on the night.
We are supporting Sight for All, a local charity who aim to people worldwide with the magic of sight by delivering health care projects free of charge to those who need it most. More information on Sight for All can be found on their website: https://sightforall.org/

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a “Thanks for flying our airline.” He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally, everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane.
She said, “Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?”
“Why, no, Ma'am,” said the pilot. “What is it?”
The little old lady said, “Did we land, or were we shot down?”
