Last Saturday’s Chat 2 Belong was a great success with six new Aussies and a similar number of Rotarians.  Among them, five different countries were represented and most sought to:
  • practise their English with locals and
  • chat about issues with which they may need guidance; while
  • safely volunteering on projects among Aussie friends,
 
In the months ahead, our Group mentoring of a refugee household may create some crossover between that and Chat 2 Belong.  October is quite busy, so instead of a Chat 2 Belong meeting our new Aussies can either…
  1. come to our ‘Spring Magic’ picnic on Sunday October 17;
  2. help with our Polio Plus project in Rundle Mall on Saturday 23 October; or
  3. spend a Riverland weekend at Calperum water salinity testing, tree health surveying and doing the things our new Aussies sought with Rotarians also there. 
Chat 2 Belong will meet again on a Saturday in November.
 
The Grange raffle is now underway, so please sell as many raffle books as you can.  If selling is daunting, consider it a partial Christmas gift for those you know who seem to have everything.  Every book sold covers raffle costs, then our various community project costs.  I’ll send you a flyer to help raffle sales by explaining the prizes (what’s in it for them) and also the project outcomes created by raffle revenue (feel good factor).
 
Thanks to all your contributions, Kirsti has now gathered all the End Trachoma items and will soon find an opportunity for us to help assemble the kits.  Please let me know if you can be one of the 6 or 7 people we need for the Polio Plus stand in Rundle Mall 10am till noon on Saturday 23 October.  We’ll raise public awareness about Rotary and Ending Polio globally as well as possibly fundraising for the polio campaign via the Rotary Foundation (the world’s most efficient charity).
 
Our next meeting is a combined AdLight/AdCity Rotaract dinner on Thursday 14th October, 6pm for a 6:15 start in the Astor Hotel’s Atrium room.

Australian Rotary Health Wine offer
Based on the success last year, our District 9510 ARH Committee has again organised a wine offer which has many benefits.    Our extensive list gives you and your friends access to quality branded wines that most likely you already purchase from an outlet, but through our order, the prices are heavily reduced.  
 
The benefit to the purchasers is reduced price.
 
The benefit to ARH is that we will receive $30 per dozen on all orders from the merchant which will be on-sent to ARH.
 
The benefit to your Club is that the orders will be matched to the respective Rotary Clubs that have participated in this campaign, and ARH will record your Club’s share as part of your ARH fundraising this year.    
 
Let’s look at an example.  If your Club members and friends order 15 dozen bottles from this list, ARH will receive $450 (15 dozen X $30 / dozen), and ARH will record that $450 from your Club.   That’s $450 that you don’t have to dig into your Club finances for or worry about how you will raise it.  Last year 1 Club was credited with $930 as ARH fundraising by supporting that campaign.
 
With Christmas not that far away now, this is an ideal time to make your orders.  The orders will close on Friday 29th October 2021, so please ensure that the completed orders are returned to me by email to john@jcampbell.com.au by that date.    We expect that your orders will be available for pick-up on Monday 15th  November.
 
I trust that you see the value of this offer to members and friends. This is a valuable way that we are helping you to help ARH and look forward to your support.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about  the speaker prior to the meeting.
Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display;  Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund to Bruce McDonald and empty bags to the next duty member, at the next meeting.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the General Havelock Hotel in Hutt Street.
Bread Run: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:55pm
