Stories
President's Pen

Our speaker last Thursday, PDG John Campbell, provided us with a history of the “50 Years of Rotaract” and this segued neatly into the celebrations held on Friday night. The evening began with a reception in the Adelaide Town Hall for 100 people where the Lord Mayor Martin Haese spoke of the value and the city’s appreciation of the service work provided by youth. Katey Halliday, President of Adelaide City Rotaract, responded and thanked him on behalf of all Rotaractors. It was then onto the tram and down to Pavilion On The Park where 190 people enjoyed a cocktail function, silent auction, live auction, raffle and music with all proceeds going to the Zhara foundation.

From a Past Rotaractor’s perspective, it was terrific to catch up with so many old friends, renew acquaintances and reminisce on “the good old days”.

Our own member John Karran donated a personally crafted jewellery item to the live auction.

The evening was a great success and thank you to the nine club members, plus partners, who attended and demonstrated their support of our sponsored Rotaract Club – Adelaide City Rotaract.

I would also like to thank Don Tindale, John Karran and John Campbell for volunteering their time and input on the combined Rotary/Rotaract committee to assist in the organisation of the 50 Years celebration.

Thought for the week:

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that’s your own self.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.
