It was pleasing to see such a large member rollup for our change of venue last week – firstly our breakfast at Rise and Grind Café and then our Tour of Foodbank, Edwardstown where we were very lucky to be greeted by our past member Di Nicholas who, along with the CEO, showed us around the warehouse and shop and answered the numerous questions posed. I think we were all overawed by the logistics required to ensure the smooth transition of goods in and out of the warehouse and the organisation required to obtain goods from growers, producers and retailers and then to ensure they are available and accessible to welfare agencies who can then provide food to individuals and families. I think many of us felt this is an organisation that needs our support either individually or collectively. Foodbank provide food relief to 105,000 South Australian’s every month. Thanks must go to John Wotherspoon for organising such a good breakfast and tour. Women in Rotary in South Australia are again hosting an International Women’s Day Breakfast and this year it will be on Wednesday 7th March 2018 at Pavilion on The Park, South Terrace, Adelaide at a cost of $45 for a 7am start. It will finish before 9am for those needing to head off to work. Our speaker this year is the awe inspiring Sarah Brown, CEO of WDNWPT (Purple House), and her ongoing story of true dedication and commitment to her passion. Sarah has arranged for an original painting by Nanyuma Napangati (see flyer) to be sold at the breakfast with all profits from the sale donated to Purple House. Although this event celebrates International Women’s Day it is not only for women and each year it is great to see the number of males attending increases. Flyers are available from me and I would love you to join my table at the breakfast. It would be great to see a number of Adelaide Light Rotarians and their partners at this event.
