The meeting last week was moved to Rydges South Park Hotel on the corner of West Terrace and South Terrace, to enable members to avoid the traffic issues caused by the Clipsal 500 road closures.
About 17 members attended and enjoyed a good breakfast and good fellowship. The meeting generally followed normal meeting protocols but as there was no guest speaker, it allowed for more fellowship than our usual meetings.
This next week’s meeting will be back at the Royal Coach Motor Inn on Dequetteville Terrace and the usual time of 07:15.
President’s thought for the week; “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Thomas A. Edison
Our Club has been doing the ‘Bread Run’ every Sunday for nearly 20 years. It was begun by the late Bob Angove.
Each Sunday, we collect the surplus bread from Baker’s Delight in North Adelaide and deliver it to various places – David Rowe delivers most of the sweet things to Ronald McDonald House in North Adelaide, while others take the bulk of the bread to the Moore Street Centre in the city.
We generally have 3 Rotarians, the occasional partner, and one of the Adelaide City Rotaractors in attendance each Sunday.
A few weeks ago, we added another string to our bow – we now deliver a couple of bags of bread to Catherine House each week.
We thank Baker’s Delight for making the leftover bread available and we are pleased to be able to deliver it to these worthy causes.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement
To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.
A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car.
His father said he’d make a deal with his son, “You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we’ll talk about the car.”
The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he’d settle for the offer, and they agreed on it.
After about six weeks his father said, “Son, you’ve brought your grades up and I’ve observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I’m disappointed you haven’t had your hair cut.”
The boy said, “You know, Dad, I’ve been thinking about that and I’ve noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair. Moses had long hair, and there’s even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair…”
You’re going to love the Dad’s reply…
“Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?”
