Last Thursday’s second Kent Town Hotel dinner went well, this time partitioned in the larger 1st floor function room. Guest speaker, Brian Harvey did indeed charm us with stories of his entrepreneurial career. He’s clearly quick to successfully grasp a new opportunity. if you missed his speech, I encourage you to ask him about it.
Saturday’s Cuppa Conversation at Ginger’s on Goodwood Rd went well. Rob, Yvette, Katey and me from the Club, while Colombians Alvaro and Monica visited again benefiting from more focused conversation. Indian guest, Geena from Kerala joined us for the first time with her 8 year old Australian born son, Lavan. If you know someone who needs a house Cleaner, let me know as Geena may be able to help.
Rob and I did some weeding last Sunday for Catherine House while checking out the irrigation timer taps that soon need to be installed. We’ll probably belatedly finish that with Catherine House’s own volunteer in the next couple of weeks.
Adelaide City Rotaract inducted two new members on Monday night, Chetana Anand and Hayate Yamada. Chetana will be the Club’s Membership Coordinator for ’23/4 and I’m sure she’ll do a fine job. On Friday 18 August we’ll be holding a joint Quiz Night with Adelaide City at Pulteney Grammar’s Wyatt Hall. Put 18 August in your diary, as it’s always a great night and please help in some way.
Richard is back in town, so it’s last call to contact him if you fancy a ‘Rotary Club of Adelaide Light' badged polo shirt, rugby jumper or even a dress shirt. Best not to procrastinate on this one as Richard needs to wrap it up for our members soon.
Our Rotary District 9510 is holding a 2023 Rotary Volunteering Expo on 3rd June 2023 in Bonython Hall at Adelaide University. it’s free and open to the public with 40 exhibitors including Rotary projects and those of our partners in community service. Guest speakers on societal change like volunteering trends. The theme “Proud of the Past Confident of the Future” highlights Rotary as an enabler offering satisfying experiences for all members.
That evening there’s a Celebration Dinner 6:30pm at the National Wine Centre. The $100 cost includes a 2-course meal, welcome drink on arrival, entertainment, and a chance to hear from some very special guests. So put 3rd June in your diary.
If I don't see you at the Area 12 dinner this Wednesday 29 March in the Cathedral Hotel, there’s a Coffee Conversation at the White Picket café 9:30am on Thursday.
The recent Treasure Boxes drive hauled in some excellent donations and thanks to Rob's superb spruking on CoastFM, those listeners made some great contributions.
Yvette donated several valuable quilts with winter ahead and overall, we made several trips to deliver gifts... see the photo with Kirsti making one of them.
