Alison’s been busy lately. You may recall the Australia vs Afghanistan T20 cricket match on Friday 4 November… a nail-biter Australia won by just 4 runs. The photo shows Alison sitting in front of Erfan, he in his Afghan colours and Alison sporting his Pashtun (anti-Taliban) hat.
Erfan is speaking (or has spoken, depending when you read this) at Adelaide Rotary Club’s meeting this Wednesday 23 November. I’ll try to take a photo for next week’s newsletter. Erfan is steadily spreading the word and it’s encouraging that our Government is actively overcoming its Visa backlog - some cautious optimism for Erfan’s brother and family.
After this Thursday’s Club’s AGM, we’ll have clarity about leadership roles for 2023/4.
Our Club has another wine deal to offer, again outstanding value and already selling well. It’s Chalk Hill McLaren Value Shiraz for $150 a case ($12.50 a bottle, normally @ $22 each). While Rob’s away, ask Bruce or me for your orders.
I encourage you all to book in for our annual Auld Teapot Sporting Challenge vs Adelaide City Rotaract on Friday December 9 from 5:30pm at the lovely South Tce Croquet Club on Beaumont Road, Adelaide - let’s hope we can out-croquet them this time and wrest the teapot trophy back again! Adelaide City Rotaract has its 10th Birthday on Wednesday 14 December at the Gilbert Street Hotel, 88 Gilbert St in the city. To help them celebrate, tickets are $25 each (buy them here), including dinner platters. You can buy drinks from the bar.

McLaren Vale is renowned for its excellent shiraz and this Chalk Hill Shiraz represents wonderful value, normally $22 per bottle, our club's fundraising offer is just $150.00 for a dozen. ($12.50 a bottle)

We need your help, as a Rotary leader, to raise funds and awareness for The Rotary Foundation this Giving Tuesday, 29 November. This global day of generosity is an opportunity for all Rotary members to make a big impact with a gift of any size to our Annual Fund-SHARE. Last year, we raised more than ever before — over US$1 million! We’re asking you to help us surpass that this year, so that we can do even more good together.
The Foundation will again recognize the top three clubs in fundraising, donor participation, and online giving. Find out which clubs made the list last year and set a giving goal for your club this year. Just make sure that the gifts are made on 29 November.
