Stories
President's Pen
After contacting (and visiting some) approximately a dozen hospitality businesses in the hunt for a new breakfast meeting venue, we have narrowed it down to two which Di, Bruce, John W and myself are visiting tomorrow morning after coffee conversation and will then make an immediate decision so that we can announce where we will be meeting next Thursday morning, followed by our Board Meeting.

Bunnings at Mile End contacted Di and myself on Tuesday offering a BBQ this coming Sat. 20th. Feb. and in my absence, Di made a snap decision to accept Dina's offer. Thank you to everyonewho has volunteered at such short notice.

Thank you to Margie for organizing a very successful tour of the Community Dental Clinic on Light Square introducing many of us to part of the city which we rarely visit. Unfortunately, the breakfast was not produced as speedily as we would have liked, however as a very new business they are obviously experiencing teething issues.

Regards,
Rob

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

Jokes Corner
Ever since he was a child, a man always had a fear of someone under his bed at night. So he went to a psychiatrist and told him, "I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it.  I'm scared and I think I'm going crazy.”

"Just put yourself in my hands for one year," said the psychiatrist. "Come in and talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears."

“How much do you charge?”

"Eighty dollars per visit", replied the doctor.

"I'll sleep on it", he said.

Six months later the doctor met him on the street. "Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked.

"Well, eighty bucks a visit, three times a week for a year is $12,480.00.  A bartender cured me for $10.00. I was so happy to have saved all that money that  I went and bought me a new pickup truck."

"Is that so?" With a bit of an attitude, he said, "and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?”

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed. There isn’t anybody under there now!”

Forget the psychiatrist, have a drink and talk to the bartender!

It's always good to get a second opinion!
