Our Club will once again be joint sponsoring the RYLA Celebration Evening Function which is to be held on Wednesday 10th. July. Pop the date in your diary and as more details come to hand, you will be notified. Our club is sponsoring two people to attend the week long live in course this year. Rotaractor, Alana Melville and a student from the Thebarton Senior College, Ms Zeynab Noori.
Last weeks’ Coffee Conversation at the Velo was well attended by ten which included John W., Bruce an’ Fred who had recently returned from their overseas trip. Sadly, the Velo is a very noisy venue and I am looking for somewhere else close by.
Please let me know if you require a bottle recycle bag and if you have a full bag/s which needs collecting, I will endeavour to do so.
Di has sent out a request for volunteers for a Bunnings Mile End BBQ on Sat 15th. June which should be a very good fundraiser for our club.
When John W. informed the Ibis Senior Management that we were moving venues they expressed great surprise and disappointment, however the current situation was unworkable for our club. I want to thank John and Julie Campbell for investigating the Stamford and I am sure that you will be very impressed with the Executive Lounge, our new room.
Thank you to Yvette for donating a projector screen, to avoid our club having to hire or buy one.
This coming Thursday morning we meet at the Stamford Plaza for the first time and very excitingly we will be inducting three members of the Adelaide City Rotaract Club into our Rotary Club, Karagh, Katey and Kirsti.
The South Australia Police Officer of the Year Award has been a major vocational project of the Rotary Club of Unley each year since 1978.
The award recognises an outstanding SA Police Officer who, in serving the community shows outstanding acts of courage, kindness, understanding, compassion or devotion to duty. We are looking for an officer who performs beyond and above the call of duty. That performance may be on the job or providing significant off-duty community volunteering.
Our search for the SA Police Office of the Year for 2019 opens early June and In this regard we have distributed a number of the enclosed poster to each of your clubs Presidents and asked them to arrange for the posters to be displayed in prominent locations visible to the general public.
Nominations are received from organisations, service clubs, community groups and individuals from across the State of South Australia and the support of your clubs is sought to spread the word throughout their areas. Each club is most welcome and encouraged to nominate a worthy South Australian police officer for this award.
Details of the award and nomination forms may be found on the Unley Rotary website at http://www.unley.rotaryclub.org.au. Any encouragement you can provide to the clubs in your district to submit a nomination would be very much appreciated. The continuing success of the Award relies on nominations being received.
In 2019 after the success of last year’s event, the presentation will again be held at a public ceremony at the Royal Adelaide Show on the 6th September 2019 at 11.30 am. Last year’s event provided both radio and television exposure for Rotary and we hope the same will occur this year. Members of your District are more than welcome to attend the event.

Rotary Service Using Vocational Talents & Interests
Service in Rotary takes many forms and one of the most enriching forms of service and an opportunity to learn more about Rotary at a different level, is to serve via the many District Committees using one’s vocational talents and interests.
Currently, as we transition from one Rotary year to the next and look towards District 9510 a year later, there is an opportunity for a person or persons who may have an interest, talent or background in insurance and risk management to serve with our existing and developing team in this established area.
Whilst an insurance or risk background will assist, it is not essential as processes are well established; having a strong interest in the field and in supporting Clubs by helping them to implement established processes under the guidance of the existing team is all that is needed.

Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money; wine raffle sheet); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
