This coming Wed. evening, we currently have 16 members attending our combined meeting with Adelaide Parks at the Naval, Military and Air Force Club. Gentlemen are not required to wear a tie, however jackets are preferred. We are invited to gather for a drink in the bar from 5.30 pm and sit down for dinner promptly at 6.15 pm. The cost is $26.00 per head and eftpos will be available.
The address is 111 Hutt St. Adelaide and there is off street car parking.
Tomorrow evening (Tuesday) our younger members, together with John W. and myself are meeting for the second time to discuss the Club's strategy going forward. We will be analysing the results of a survey compiled by Stef looking to address the lack of members in the 40 - 55 age group. Once we have some clear suggestions we will share them with all of our club members for further discussion.

I am delighted to advise that Katrina was successful in obtaining the $5,000 grant for Margies Dental project.
This coming Saturday 12th. September, Katey H is coordinating a combined working bee with Rotaract members to begin work on Catherine House Project Mark Two. All participants have been emailed a Safety Guidelines to sign. Catherine House are generously providing morning tea and lunch.
With the forecast of a drop of approximately $15,000 in fundraising income due to the loss of Bunnings Barbeques and the Car Race car parking, our small Fundraising Committee of Di, John W., Bruce and myself have met to look at other options. Whilst considering several member suggestions, we are investigating the possibility of trialing an op shop in one of the Central Market arcades and am waiting for a response to our written proposal.
The only fundraising income we are achieving at present is from bottles and cans which we have budgeted $700 for and have currently raised $206.00 which is a great result, pre-summer.
Last Sunday's bush walk and picnic were a success despite initial uncertainty about the weather. In the end the weather was kind and a good time was had by the small but enthusiastic band of walkers and picnickers.
A kiosk and toilet added some comfort and koala even obliged nearby while for the more adventurous, relaxed kangaroos could be seen near the lake.
Through he magic of grandchildren, we can confirm how 'hip' our Club President really is... note the Hawthorn technique.

Jim Whalley is South Australia’s first Chief Entrepreneur.
Jim is the Chair and co-founder of innovative defence industry company Nova Systems.
He is a former air force fighter pilot and test pilot and holds a Master of Business Administration, a science degree and has completed the Harvard Business School OPM Executive Education Program.
Jim is a member of the Sir Ross and Keith Smith Advisory Committee, the council of the University of South Australia, the board of the Adelaide Festival and a non-executive director of Australian Naval Infrastructure. Providing high level, independent advice on entrepreneurship matters.
Riverside Rowing Club (just off Montefiore/Morphett on the Torrens) has been booked so we can gather to package 400 birthing kits for sending to overseas locations like Papua New Guinea.
This combined Adelaide Light Rotary and Adelaide City Rotaract project will facilitate safe births, avoiding needless maternal and infant deaths or disease.
The doors will be open from 6 pm with a cash bar open and pizza served, from 6.30pm for a small cost of $5.00 per head. Once everyone has eaten, the assembly of the birthing kits will commence.
There is a free club car park and the club house has a balcony overlooking the Torrens river.

He walked to the window of his bedroom to get a deep breath of the beautiful day outside. He then noticed there was . . . a donkey lying dead in the middle of his front lawn. He promptly called the local police station.
The conversation went like this:
"Good morning. This is Sergeant Jones. How might I help you?"
"And the best of the day te yerself. This is Father O'Malley at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
There's a donkey lying dead in me front lawn and would ye be so kind as to send a couple o'yer lads to take care of the matter?"
Sergeant Jones, considering himself to be quite a wit thought he would have a little fun with the good father, so he replied:
"Well now Father, it was always my impression that you people took care of the last rites!"
There was a deathly silence on the line for a moment . . ..
Father O'Malley then replied:
"Aye, 'tis certainly true; but we are also obliged to notify the next of kin first, which is the reason for me call."
