I was delighted to hear from Julie C. that John came home from hospital on Sat.17th. with the report that his lymph nodes were clear and John had begun walking around the corridors of their complex.
Last Thurs. morning at our coffee conversation our group of four became five when Julie C. arrived, which was marvellous.
This Friday evening is our end of year Christmas Croque evening and we have 16 booked to attend and it’s not too late to join us, as ideally we would love 20.
We commence selling Xmas trees in December and this year we are doing things a little differently at Bunnings at Kent Town. As it is difficult to keep the trees looking fresh for four weeks, we have decided to sell them over two long weekends.
Di will be emailing out a request to fill the roster, so hopefully you can assist.
This is the club's annual second biggest fundraiser after barbeques.
We will also be running our Christmas Hamper Raffle at Kent Town, generously donated by Di Lane.
Finally, the club is holding an opening of the Catherine House project on Friday 7th. December at 3pm. at Catherine House. As there is a limit to the number who can attend, invitations will be sent out to the club members who assisted over the three months and other non members of whom there were many.
This Thursday's morning breakfast meeting, 29th Nov. is at the Royal Coach.
This is the information re the ‘bag collection’ being conducted by my next door neighbour I mentioned at our meeting on Thursday.
"This year I am getting involved in the ‘It’s in the bag’ initiative with Share the Dignity and supported by Bunnings Stores: See details below:
‘What is ‘It's In The Bag?’
Each year Share the Dignity collects handbags filled with personal care products. These Christmas gifts are then distributed to homeless, at-risk and women experiencing domestic violence.
What can I donate?
Choose a handbag you no longer use or buy a new one, then fill it with items including shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, sanitary items and anything else you can think of that will make a woman feel special.’
I am hoping that some of you might have some largish handbags or small backpacks that you no longer need and are happy to donate. I will fill and take to Bunnings for collection. I would also appreciate any donations to fill the bags as well. I will be delivering the bags by the end of November.
Please bring your bags along to our meeting on Thursday 22nd November.
