Stories
Just a reminder that our meetings from this week (8 October until at least Christmas) will be at the Royal Coach Hotel, 24 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town at 7am for a 715am start.

Last week's meeting was a joint meeting with the Rotary Club of Adelaide South and celebrated Hat Day - a fundraising event for Rotary's Mental Health programs.  Our speaker was Dr Michelle Atchison.  Michelle is a psychiatrist in private practice, represents psychiatry on the AMA(SA) Council, and chairs the SA Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.  Michelle gave a great talk, illustrated by many cartoons, about psychiatry, breaking down many of the assumptions we make.  Psychiatrists are medically trained with at least 5 years in the job training in psychiatry after completing their medical degrees.  They deal with the more serious mental illnesses and their services are covered through Medicare, as with other medical visits.  Their ability to prescribe medication means that they can deal with the interactions that often occur between physical and mental illnesses - for example, the issue of chronic pain, and the association between depression/anxiety and sleep problems.  While mental illnesses occur roughly equally between men and women, women are twice as likely to seek help, men being more likely to try to 'tough it out' or use alcohol.

This week's meeting is a Club Planning meeting.

Andrew Black reported meeting our ex-waitress Tegan at Killakanoon Winery where she now works.  Tegan would love to see any members passing that way!

  Cooking tips

To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.
Buy Smash mashed potato mix.
Keeps in the cupboard for up to a year.
When a cake recipe calls for flouring
the baking tin, use a bit of dry cake
mix instead and there won't be any
white mess on the outside of the cake.
Go to the bakery!
Hell, they'll even decorate it for you!
Wrap celery in aluminium foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.
Celery?
Never heard of it!
Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
Take a lime, mix it with tequila,
chill and drink! All your pains go away!
Don't throw out all that leftover wine.
Freeze into ice cubes for future use
in casseroles and sauces.
Leftover wine???????
HELLO!!!!!!
