Our breakfast meeting this week (28 July) at the Terrace Hotel seeks your views about what you think is working well in our club, what’s not and whether there’s anything you’d like to change. Please try to get along so we can ensure we keep the Club the way you like.
Now to update you on our Mentoring work. Building on her BBQ volunteering, Fatemeh recently used her Farsi language skills to help Erfan’s family develop their English. Kirsti and Katey arranged a dinner with Erfan and Fatemeh’s families (see photos attached). The Afghan Dari dialect is a variation of Persian/Iranian Farsi, making Fatemeh’s tutoring particularly useful.
Meanwhile, the ever diligent Di and Rob between them have gathered enough volunteers for our next Bunnings BBQ on Saturday 30 July. It should be more profitable now Bunnings sausage prices have finally risen after many years.
For the past week I’ve been chasing some sun in far north Queensland but look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday 28. Till then you may be interested in some holiday snaps.
First, a budding though temporary romance between a young female crocodile and her beau, a 6 metre male octogenarian - really a prehistoric killing machine. Next, some turtles starting a family and finally a cute little platypus playing in the creek at Yungaburra near Atherton.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.

I was having trouble with my computer. So, I called Richard, the 11 year old from next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.
Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?"
He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, "An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again."
Richard grinned. "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?''
"No," I replied.
"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out".
