Stories
President's Pen
This coming Thursday we will be meeting for breakfast at our fifth home in three years and hopefully the Sage Hotel on South Terrace will offer us some stability. It is where the Central Rotary Club meets for lunch and Rotary clubs have been meeting there for a very long time.

I am planning to induct Paul Ensor into our Rotary Club this week.

Our meeting will be followed by our monthly Board Meeting.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered last Saturday for our BBQ at Bunnings at Mile End, which enabled us to place $1100 against our fundraising budget. A special thanks to Di for organizing us at such short notice, which hopefully will gain us more barbeque spots this Rotary Year.

I spoke to John Karran last week who reports that he is feeling much better, and although not fully recovered is back at work, slowly easing himself back behind the workbench.

Yvette and Tony Reade attended Coffee Conversation last Thursday, just forty minutes after Tony had been discharged from Respite Care where he had spent two weeks to allow Yvette some time off from her role as full time carer, and it was nice to catch up.

I attended the Adelaide City Rotaract Club's meeting this evening (Monday) and Damian from the Rotary/Rotaract Salisbury Club's addressed us on the subject of Authenticity.

Regards,
Rob

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
Some people's views on golf:

Eighteen holes of match play will teach you more about your foe than 18 years of dealing with him across a desk.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them.  Golf is more complicated than that.

Man blames fate for all other accidents, but feels personally responsible when he makes a hole-in-one.

I'm hitting the woods just great; but having a terrible time getting out of them!

The No: 1 Golf rule you MUST follow: Always take the car keys out of your golf bag before you throw it into the creek.
