Unfortunately only a small group were able to attend last week's breakfast meeting to enjoy Dean'sentertaining talk about his many trips to the USA which I found most informative.
It was lovely to have our member Stef and Afghan friend Erfan join us and Stuart is quickly learning the ropes as the club's MC.
Adelaide Parks were attempting to organize a barbecue team for this coming Wed. at Bunnings Mile End with our involvement, but unfortunately have had to cancel.
Tomorrow Tuesday, the Community Services committee are meeting for their monthly meeting at the Astor Hotel at 7 pm, so please let Kirsti know if you can attend.
This coming Thursday is our regular Coffee Conversation at the White Picket in Dulwich from 9.30 am and everyone is welcome.
Our club stalwart , Di leaves for Europe this week and on behalf of everyone I want to wish her a safe and wonderful trip. President John has sent us some interesting notes about Madeira who by now will be walking in Albania.
Making Anzac biscuits at the English lesson on Saturday. Abdullah read out the recipe and Manizha identified the ingredients and put them all together with Margie and Katey helping out as needed.
These photos are from the Vigil for Afghanistan commemorating 1 year since the fall of Kabul and calling for action from the government to fulfill expectations to provide at least 20,000 emergency humanitarian visas immediately, grant permanent protection to people already in Australia on uncertain temporary visas and provide resettlement to refugees from Afghanistan stuck in limbo in Indonesia, and remove any further delays on long awaited family reunions.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about the speaker prior to the meeting. Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests. Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriatepersons. A farmer named Clyde had a car accident. In court, the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning Clyde .
"Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'?" asked the lawyer. Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favourite mule, Bessie..."
"I didn't ask for any details", the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?" Clyde said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road....."
The lawyer interrupted again and said to the Judge, "I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Policeman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question."
By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde 's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favourite mule, Bessie". Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded.
"Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my car and trailer right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting, real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Policeman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her fatal condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes.
Then the Policeman came across the road, gun still in hand, looked at me and said, "How are you feeling?" "Now what would you say?"
