Last week’s guest speaker, Tim Saul, opened our eyes to the rollout of the NBN and debunked some myths some of us may have had about the NBN while explaining the various ways we may connect to it and what will affect the speed of the internet provided. He was correct in his assumption that we could not pose a question that he had not heard before and he willingly responded to them all. Thank you Tim.

This week, Rotary International President Elect, Barry Rassin, has laid out his vision for the future of Rotary, calling on all leaders to work for a sustainable future and to inspire Rotarians and the community at large. Barry, a member of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, unveiled the 2018/19 presidential theme Be the Inspiration to incoming district governors at Rotary’s International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA.

He said “ I want you to inspire in your clubs, your Rotarians, that desire for something greater. The drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us”.

Barry stressed the power of Rotary’s new vision statement:

Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

To achieve this vision, the President Elect said, Rotarians must take care of their organisation:

“We are a membership organisation first. And if we want to be able to serve it, if we want to succeed in our goals – we have to take care of our members first”
