I trust that everyone was able to enjoy Christmas with family and/or friends, however please spare a thought for our Dr Phil and Margie, as Phil was taken by ambulance to the Calvary Adelaide on Christmas Day.
Unfortunately, Phil experienced a reaction to his oral chemotherapy medicine which had a disastrous effect on him and they eventually dined on hospital cheese sandwiches rather than the two crayfish which they had planned for their Christmas day.
The good news is that Phil has improved greatly over the last 48 hours and he is expecting to be discharged this coming Tuesday. Both he and Margie are planning to attend our meeting on Thursday 14th. Jan. to hear the guest speaker, Professor Geoff Higgins, present a talk entitled Coronavirus and the prospects for an effective vaccine which Phil organized in mid-December.
This very topical subject should appeal to many, so I encourage you to invite friends and family, however please remember to let me know your attendance numbers by Tuesday 12th.
Yesterday, Saturday, Di, Bruce and myself helped out Adelaide Parks on the lunchtime BBQ shift at Bunnings at Mile End, which proved to be steady rather than really busy as had been anticipated. Nevertheless, our efforts will help improve achieving the fundraising budget.
It was nice to catch up for coffee with a group of members including Liz and Katrina the day before Christmas and so I am inviting you to join us for coffee this coming Thursday, 7th. Jan. from 9.30 am at the White Picket Fence in Dulwich.
Our club enters a new year and hopefully 2021 will allow us a little more freedom to achieve our goals in assisting our local and the broader community. The Bread Run recommences on Sunday 31st. January and the Catherine House Garden Makeover Project needs to be concluded after a lot of very frustrating delays.
I would like to wish you all a healthy, safe (and I will throw in prosperous for good measure) 2021.
