We reconvene this week with our first meeting for 2020.  We have a breakfast meeting on Thursday 9 January at 7.15 am at the Stamford Plaza Hotel.  If you are unable to attend the meeting or will have guests attending, please email Fred Field at fieldfro9@adam.com.au or email me at kmball@jelkamain.com or text me on 0402853029 by Wednesday lunchtime so that we can advise the Stamford Plaza about numbers attending. 
 
It has been a sombre start to the new year with the devastating bushfires that have been raging across Australia. The fires have been so extensive and affected so many rural communities that I’m sure we all know someone who has been impacted by the fires. We can consider how our Club can assist with fire relief at the meeting.  
 
Many thanks to Di Lane and Rob McLennan for all your efforts in organising our 2019 Christmas tree sales and to members who volunteered their time to help out over the three weekends. We raised over $4,000 which was a great achievement.
 
Phil Harding will be our first guest speaker for 2020. He returned from his holiday in New Zealand enthused by the connections between South Australian and New Zealand colonial history and this will be the focus of his talk.
 
Our friends from the Rotary Club of Eastwood will be joining us on Thursday 23rd January when John Bellman from SACA will be our guest speaker. He will be talking about his role in SACA and our summer of cricket.

Chairman: Meet/greet speaker for the meeting; introduce and thank speaker. Preparation:- find details about  the speaker prior to the meeting.
Attendance: Set up reception table (attendance sheet; members list – re -payments; guest welcome sheet; money); register member payments/ apologies/ guests.
Hosting: Welcome all at the door; ensure speaker and guests are introduced to appropriate persons.
Furniture: Flags; banner display; raffle balls; collection boxes; Rotary theme banner; gong and hammer; lectern position before and returned after the meeting. Computer set up – Connect to projector. Switch on. Hold function key & press F5 twice.
Bottles/cans: Collect bags of bottles/cans at meeting and take to recycle centre for refund, pass refund and empty bags to David Rowe at next meeting.
Rotaract: Meets alternate Mondays at 6pm (for a 630pm start) at the General Havelock Hotel in Hutt Street.
Bread Run: Sundays, meet outside Romeo's, North Adelaide at 4:55pm

Members rostered for Thursday morning duty are asked to be in attendance by 6.45am

Two guys drinking in a pub one day. One says to the other you know its rather expensive to be drinking in here all day. Why don't we go to me place and have us a little party says one.

 

That's a fine idea where do you live. Well you just get on the k trolley and you get off on Lime Street. You cant miss it, I live in the third building just past the bottle shop. Its a five story building at 349 Lime Street, so when you get to the door you can use your elbow to Ring the bell and I'll buzz you in.

 

When you get to the lift you can use your elbow to hit the up arrow. When you get in you can use your elbow to push the 4th floor button. I am in 421 so when you get to me door you can use your foot to get me attention and I'll come let you in.

 

That's fine he says but why the elbow and foot stuff? Your not coming empty handed now are you?
