I know that this COVID-19 season has brought about a lot of changes. Our ability to adapt and learn from those changes will make us a more impactful organization. I know Zoom isn’t the normal we are accustomed to, but I appreciate everyone who has held steadfast. Change is how we survive. We must adapt for the sake of the community we serve.
Representative Terri Carver serves as the state representative for Colorado House District 20. In this presentation on human trafficking, she will give an overview of current trends and recent legislative action taken to combat this horrible crime.

I have been going to Rotary meetings since high school with my mom (Sequim Sunrise Rotary). I was a Rotaract member in medical school in the Kirksville Missouri Rotary club, home of past Rotary president Ray Klinginsmith. I officially joined as a full Rotarian at the Tulsa Oklahoma Sunrise club.

I have absolutely loved volunteering for the Dental Day and other events at Queen Palmer! It is such a joy seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces! I hope we can expand our D11 involvement.

A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his First Communion.”
“I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.”
They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.”

Hello, Rotarians!
For those who missed us on Monday for the Craig & Kyle Whitney Memorial Golf Tournament, what an amazing day it was! I started the day selling mulligans and then partnered with Jody to get the people purchasing mulligans to use their change back to spend on raffle tickets for Flight! During the tournament, I was at Hole 12 with Claudine and Holly. I especially enjoyed seeing our elusive Rotarian Mike Hendren golfing! It was cold but we were committed! And the doctors say that eventually our fingers and toes will heal from the frostbite! ;)
I was so sad to get notice that Ken Schinstine, our previous Executive Director, passed away. Ken was one of the first people I met when I joined Rotary. My memories of him are very sweet. He was charming and gentlemanly. I was afraid that I wouldn't ever see him once he passed the (unbelievably large) torch to Claudine. He did visit occasionally and just recently I got an inbox message from him on Facebook. It didn't sound right (Ken never once called me "Saltmarsh") so I notified Ken that his account was probably hacked. Unfortunately, I was correct. We messaged back and forth a bit after that. That was our last interaction. It's one more reminder that with everything going on in the world . . . Covid, riots, political campaigns, general unrest... that the circle of life continues. Even though I didn't see Ken very often, just knowing that his sweet soul is not on our planet any longer, I miss him. His health had been declining for a long time so he's probably having a grand time breathing without his oxygen tank! Do you think there are Rotary clubs in heaven?
I hope you are all finding reasons to be grateful every single day! And if some days you can only be grateful for your ability to fog up a mirror, that's still pretty nice.
