Rotary Park

The Rotary Park agreement has been signed between the Rotary Club of Lincoln and The Town of Lincoln. Start of the project has been delayed due to COVID-19 but excited to see when the shovels will be put in the ground and construction will begin!

Using a PowerPoint presentation and poster boards, Sarah & Madison highlighted plans for the development of “Rotary Park”, to be located on the vacant green space (3.66 acres) adjacent to the Fleming Centre on Serena Drive in Beamsville:
  • Concept design for the park was completed through a comprehensive community consultation process and approved by Town of Lincoln (TOL) Council as a capital project in December 2019 at a total value of $3,060,000.
  • The majority of funds required to cover this cost will be sourced from the TOL’s Parkland Reserve Fund.  Town staff continue to apply for and investigate funding opportunities to support the development of this parkland project.  An application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), if successful, would see upper levels of government pay for 2/3 of the project.  Any money received to fund the project through grants will see capital budget dollars put back into the parkland reserve to fund future parks.
  • Rotary Park is one of the Town’s most significant parkland projects currently and is classified as a “Destination” park because it features a skatepark and pumptrack, amenities that will not be installed in any other public park in the Town of Lincoln.
  • Designed for all ages, the park will include ample parking for vehicles & bicycles, a variety of activity and passive areas with related equipment, walking paths, picnic pavilion and open space equipped with active utilities (water & hydro) for community events.  It will also include, the “Butterfly Garden”, to be created in partnership with Ontariogreen, the Fleming Family, Butterfly Garden Committee and the Town of Lincoln.
  • Development of the park will be staged over two phases beginning in 2020 with the installation of the skatepark and pumptrack.
  • Development of the agreement between the TOL and the Rotary Club of Lincoln (RCL) re: RCL’s $100,000 donation to the “Rotary Park” project and recognition (e.g. onsite signage, stewardship, usage opportunities) is in process.
 
“Rotary Park” is being developed within the context of TOL’s “Say How You Play - Parks, Recreation, & Culture Master Plan” - https://lincoln.ca/parks-recreation-culture-master-plan  Included in this plan are upgrades to Charles Daley Park in which RCL has previously invested $165,000 to build the band shell, known as ”The Rotary Shell”.  TOL has applied for an ICIP grant for rehabilitation and renovations to Charles Daley.
