Jason Farr will educate us on the latest challenges that the Ward 2 faces, which will allow us to better understand how we can align our strategies to be in line with what our community needs.

Councillor Jason Farr was born and raised in the inner-city of Hamilton and elected to City Council in 2010 representing Ward 2 – Downtown.  Prior to being elected, Farr was the youngest ever nominee for Distinguished Citizen of the Year.  He worked as a Radio and Television Broadcaster for more than two decades and always maintained a hyper-local focus both on air and during his countless volunteer hours with a focus on improving the lives of inner-city children. During his three terms on Council, Farr has earned a reputation as a very hard-working consensus builder and a fun guy to engage on issues with.

Farr is a well-known and respected outspoken advocate for sustainable city building; Farr is three term member and past chair of the Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee and Emergency and Community Services Standing Committee.  He proudly serves on many other boards and committees that include, but are not limited to, City Housing Hamilton, the Waterfront Trust, West Harbour Sub-committee, the Arts Advisory Commission and the Downtown Cleanliness and the Security Task-Force.

Farr is also one of a limited number of Councillors nation-wide who has conducted pubic participatory budgeting where residents devise and then vote on one million dollars in city building projects on each occasion. In his ten plus years on council, Councillor Farr has moved many motions aimed at supporting Hamilton’s current and unprecedented Downtown and inner-city revitalization.  Jason Farr has been honoured to be engaging with residents and business owners in the heart of the city and maintains an important role in facilitating ongoing and unprecedented sustainable investments that continues to bring people and jobs to our core.
