Past President, Judith McCaffrey, recognized Anita Ho with a Paul Harris Fellow for her many contributions to the Santa Barbara community. Judith stated, “Anita, you have set an example for many by your contributions to this community. Your personal involvement and contributions that you have made to City programs and to many local non-profit organizations has helped make this community a better place in which to live. Your positive can-do attitude has truly inspired others!”
The Paul Harris Fellowship is one of the most prestigious awards in Rotary and thereby named after the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris who founded Rotary 112 years ago. The Fellowship was established in his honor in 1957 to express appreciation and recognition for a contribution to the Rotary Foundation. A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in whose name that amount is contributed, recognizing him or her for extraordinary services rendered.
Thank you and congratulations Anita and Judith for your service and generosity!
We love learning about the vocations of our fellow club members! The Kitchen Company was established in 1987 by Sunriser Gillian Amery, designer, and her husband Mike Amery, contractor. They feature a close-knit staff of talented professionals working together to bring beautiful kitchen designs to life.
Gillian and Mike hosted Sunrisers for a vocational mixer in their beautiful showroom complete with wines and an impressive spread of cheeses and treats . . . and not to mention some pretty wonderful ideas for dream kitchens in the making!
Thank you, Chris Tucker, our Vocational Service Director, Diana Washburn, our Social Director, and Gillian and Mike Amery!

DID YOU KNOW?
The Rotary International emblem and the word "Rotary" are officially registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as trademarks and "service marks," which gives RI certain rights regarding their use and puts unauthorized individuals on notice against any infringing use. The Rotary emblem should not be altered or modified in any way.
Rotarians are encouraged to wear the emblem as a lapel button. It is frequently used on jackets, pens, caps and other personal items manufactured by firms or individuals licensed by the RI Board of Directors. Rotary badges, banners, road signs and official Rotary club stationery naturally use the emblem as a mark of identification.
It is the responsibility of all Rotarians to use the emblem with pride. The restrictions are provided to assure that the Rotary emblem will not be misused and that it will always bring distinction to the organization.

ROTARY PIN CHALLENGE - Week 48
Participating in a National Immunization Days (NID) in India was my most meaningful moment in Rotary. Our team of Sunrisers, LuzMaria Ortiz, E. Russell Smith, Janet Napier, and Connard Hogan, partnered alongside Rotarians from Changanacheri, Kerala, India. We split up into small groups, carried the vaccine in small coolers, and set up mini-immunization stations throughout the backwater area. Soon parents and their children began gathering and waiting to receive the vaccine. I remember looking into the beautiful eyes of hundreds of Indian children as I administered two drops (as the pin depicts) of the oral polio vaccine knowing those drops would save their lives from the devastating crippling disease.
I have challenged myself to wear my Rotary pin EVERY day. By doing this I hope to raise awareness of Rotary and Rotary's work. I invite all Sunrise Rotarians to join me in wearing a Rotary pin EVERY day.
By Karen Kawaguchi, Club Service Director
