This Week's Meeting

Great turnout at last week's meeting hosted by Village Concepts, the new residential housing facility for seniors providing independent living, assisted living and memory care living located just off of the intersection of State Route 9 and Soper Hill Road. Chris Jacobson, President of AquaFest gave an overview of the changes to the event and presence on the internet and through social media. The organization has completely revamped their website.

This week's meeting returns to our usual location in downtown Lake Stevens and will feature a couple of Classification Talks. What is a Classification Talk you ask? It is an opportunity for a fairly new member to share a little bit about themselves. More tenured Rotarians occasionally give a Talk as well since newer Rotarians wouldn't have heard from those Rotarians.

Congratulations to the incoming Club Board that will begin their Rotary Year on July 1st. The full list is below.

The link to our YouTube Channel is now available on our website and our weekly bulletins. You can view recent online meetings. If you watch any of them, you can count it as a makeup. Just let our Co-Secretary, Christine Egelstad know.
AquaFest 2026

Chris Jacobson, President of AquaFest and member of our Club spoke about AquaFest 2026 at our meeting on Friday, May 8th at Village Concepts. Chris opened up by talking about the planning, attendance, budget, sponsorships, safety and operations.  AquaFest runs 3.5 days which is a tradition goiing back 57 years. Estimated attendance is in the 20,000-30,000 range mostly in the upper range. The focus is on community-building and the economic impact through visitor spending and tax revenue.

Fireworks is unlikely due to the high cost of insurance. Interest in retaining some aerial visual element if feasible. Kid's parade is scheduled for Friday. This year, the large outdoor screen is unavailable. However, movie in the park on a smaller screen is available. Theme is “250" representing the 250th anniversary of the United States. Goal is to increase community participation. Vendor registration is closed. Bringing back $50 mini sailboat races for nostalgia. Currently collaborating with food vendors. Car show is on again. Come visit AquaFest and enjoy all of the work and effort the organization puts into this wonderful event.
