The program this week will be a review of the Membership Engagement Survey that we participated in this spring. The benefit will be what we do with the information gleaned from the results. Following this will be a discussion on how the Club can earn this year's Rotary Presidential Citation. This award is presented at the annual District Conference.
Note that our meetings are returning to the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center in downtown Lake Stevens.

Laurie Westover, Loren and Lorna Hole's daughter, was formally inducted into the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens today during the birthday party for Loren Hole. As a surprise to Loren, he was asked to sign her application just before her membership was resoundingly approved by the Rotarians present. Another surprise for Loren were that most of the gifts he received were actually donations to the Loren and Lorna Hole Endowment Fund.
Rotary District 5050's Networking Plus was rolled out to the Lake Stevens community this week. Networking Plus is an innovative networking tool designed by Mount Baker Rotarian Greg Penner. If you are looking for a Rotarian owned business or a business that has Rotarian employees you can use this tool to find it. If you are a Rotarian you can use this tool to promote your company. Use the links here or on our home page to find a company or register your company. Networking Plus uses the robust Google Maps location software to visually display to potential customers where the business is located. Lake Stevens School District schools begin on Wednesday, September 2nd. Please remember this as you travel about the community. Children will be walking to and from bus stops. Many students will actually walk or ride their bicycles to their schools. Remember to obey the rules of the road in regards to school busses.
When the school busses have activated the red warning lights and extended the STOP paddle, you must stop your vehicle if you are in the same lane as the bus or in the adjacent lane. In other words you must stop when you and the bus are on a two lane road and the red lights are going and the STOP paddle is extended regardless of the direction you are going. If you and the bus are on a four lane road you do not have to stop if you are traveling in the opposite direction of the bus. If, however, you are going the same direction as the bus you must stop when the red lights are going and the STOP paddle is extended. In all cases, you know the bus will be stopping when the bus driver activates the Amber Pre Warn lights. The amber pre warn lights are different from the amber hazard lights. Every vehicle has amber hazard lights. The rules of the road regarding school busses apply no mtter what community you are traveling in.

Members- invoices were sent to you last month for the semi-annual dues and voluntary contribution to The Rotary Fund (EREY). If you have yet to make your dues payment please contact the Secretary to let him know when you will take care of this. Check your email for the invoice and be part of the Paid group.
