Lake Management Program
Our program on Friday, June 20th was all about the Lake Management Program. Our guest were Shannon Farrant, Taylor Pesce and Seth Waltz. They were here to speak about the health of the lake. Lake Stevens is one of our community's most cherished and treasured natural resources. Through lake-level monitoring, alum treatments, and vegetation management. The City manages the stormwater system. Water clarity is very key to the lake's management. Numerous outfalls from stormwater systems, including private property and the best ways to manage it.
There is the aquatic plant treatments of the lake. There are three seasonal cycles for the lake temperatures: winter, summer and fall. There was a study done on 2022 looking at the alum treatment activities.

The Lake health is excellent. The Lake health is excellent which is the highest rating that you can achieve. Bottom visibility up to 23 feet down in the lake due to the water quality management program.

There's the issue of your property and your lawn. Use phosphorus free fertilizers and the timing of the fertilizer along with the type used by homeowners is extremely important. The City works closely with the Conservation District and each are important partners in water quality management.
