This is an exciting week for our Club! For it is at this meeting that we award scholarships to graduating high school seniors that are pursing further education whether that be at a university, college or trade school. You do not want to miss this meeting! Come help us celebrate the future leaders of our community.
Thank you to Don Iverson and his Scholarship Committee for reviewing, interviewing and selecting the applicants. We have periodically heard from past recipients and the huge impact our scholarship made for them. We even got a new member many year ago from this process.
Members! Put Saturday, June 13th on your calendars for a Texas-themed year end celebration of our Club. You were sent an invitation to the Banquet which will be held at the Lake Stevens Food Bank beginning at 4:30 pm. Make sure you RSVP by June 6th. Bring your significant other and your best Texas-themed outfits for a great time and to witness the installation of your new officers.

On Friday, May 22nd, our guest speaker was Tracy Rubstello from Bridge Receiving. Tracy has visited our Club many times in the past, updating the members on the most recent activities of Bridge Receiving. The Bridge Receiving Center provides emergency placement beds and is described as the only option of its kind in the region. Region C includes Whatcom, Skagit, Island, San Juan, Snohomish and King Counties. Pierece County has no beds, and when five beds are available there, they are only available for boys age 11-17. High need was emphasized due to limited statewide capacity.
The Impact of the Keeping Families Together Act where the law raises the threshold for removing “children requiring imminent danger for police action.” Recently the state legislature enacted the "Keeping Families Together Act" and the new law raises the threshold for removing children requiring imminent danger for police action.
Unfortunately, children often arrive with only the clothes they are wearing; the center provides clothing. A storage container obtained with community help--including our Club--is full. Bridge offers a safe haven allowing caregivers (e.g. teen parents) temporary respite so they can reconnect and be kids again. On-going fundraising campaign to convert an office into a bedroom, increasing the capacity to six children which is the state facility maximum. Goal is to enable approximately 20 more children served per year. So much going on and so much to do to upgrade and maintain the facility.
Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. The name is a combination of the words international and action. We join Clubs in over 120 countries around the world. The global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact Club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.

Our regular Rotary Club Meetings are at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center lower level Community Room located at 12309 22nd St NE. We start at 7:30 am. Click here for the online link. There will not be any breakfast served. However, coffee will be available. Visitors are always welcome.
