Our featured speakers this week are Chris and Zea Smith, proprietors of Creator Zone, an immersive nonprofit venue where self-led discovery takes the lead. They will give us an update on how the Creator Zone programs are helping young and old alike discover hidden talents and explore their creativity through immersive STEM and art-based experiences. We are excited to support the Smith's with this endeavour.

Don't forget that you can sign up to help out at the next few Farmer's Markets-- July 24th, Aug 7th and Aug 21st. Go to your your Admin page on our website. Click the Volunteers Tab and then click View Signup Lists. You must be logged in to register. If you need any assistance with our website, contact our Website Administrator James Monroe.

We definitely need folks to sign up for helping out at Aquafest! This is an All Hands On Deck Event! At the same View Signup Lists page sign up for a huge variety of tasks at Aquafest. There's working at the Corn Booth, participating in the Grande Parade and the Cornhole Tournament. Also, keep those sponsorship forms coming in.

On Sunday, several of us went to District Governor Dave Duskin's Installation. James, Chris, Rand and Gary were joined by Rand's wife Lin, Loren Hole and Laurie Westover.

Distribution of Funds to Local Non-Profits

Each year our Club raises funds through the Corn Booth at Aquafest and our Corks & Kegs fundraiser. Funds from those two major fundraising events go to the following:

$25,000 to Lake Stevens High School Scholarships for seniors going to college or trade schools for our Rotary year, 2023-2024.

$15,000 is distributed to local non-profits. This year is no exception.

Receiving funding for the 2023-2024 Lake Stevens Rotary year are:

$ 500 Mari's Place for the Arts

$3,000 Sherwood Community Services

$1,000 Creator Zone

$4,500 Lake Stevens Community Food Bank

These organizations are pictured below, receiving their funds from Ron Rasmussen, President and Tracy DeLorm, Club Member and CCommittee.

Accepting the funds from President Ron Rasmussen is Mary Towe's Founder and staff members Dayanara and Devon.

Joli Butler and Anna Gibson appeared on Zoom explaining where the funds would be used and Lance Morehouse, CEO of Sherwood Community Services accepting the funds from Ron Rasmussen, President and Tracy DeLorm.

Chris Smith, Creator Zone, Founder accepted the Cub's funds from Ron Rasmussen, President and Tracy DeLorm. Prior to the check presentation, Chris gave an overview of where the funds would be used.

The last recipient last week was Anthony Hawley, Executive Director of the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank who told the Club that the funds would be used to purchase a new truck.

Funds still left to be distributed this week will go to:

$3,000 Lake Stevens Senior Center

$2,000 Lake Stevens Education Foundation

$1,000 Lake Stevens Film Festival

This brings are commitment to these local non-profits to $15,000. This year at Aquafest we are sponsoring a Corn Hole Tournament and continuing selling corn on the cob. Our Corks & Kegs Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 9th. More details to come soon.

District Governor Installation

Dave Duskin was sworn in as the District Governor for District 5050 by PDG Lyle Ryan, 2014-2015.

After the swearing in, District Governor acknowledged that when he became the Assistant District Governor, Area J, was his first actions were to present Loren Hole with a 50 Year Perfect Attendance award at Lake Stevens Rotary. Loren attended the District Governor's installation banquet on Sunday, July 14th.

Corn Hole Tournament - July 28th
