This week's gathering is our Annual Installation Banquet! As such, there's no morning meeting Friday, June 30th. Instead we are getting together that evening to celebrate President Chris' year and see President-Elect Don and his Board get installed. Please go to the Creator Zone on Vernon Rd at 91st Avenue NE across from Wendy's Restaurant and the Rustic Cork. Gathering begins at 6 pm, with formalities underway at 6:30. Along the way there will be a passing of the gavel which is always a highlight. If you haven't let Tracy know if you're coming, with or without a significant other, it may not be too late. But do so, today!

Over the next few we will also celebrate Canada Day on July 1st and US Independence Day on July 4th! Enjoy both holidays safely.

We will resume our regular Friday morning meetings on July 7th with a presentation by Bill Tobin on Shelter Box.

Supporting Local Non-Profits

As the current Rotary year comes to an end on June 30th, the Club distributed funds to local area non-profits and a couple of international projects on Friday, June 23rd at our weekly meeting. Receiving funding this year were the following: Bridge Receiving, Sherwood Community Services and Lake Stevens Senior Center each awarded $2,000. Lake Stevens Farmers Market, the Lake Stevens Education Foundation, the Lake Stevens Film Festival, the Everett Y, the Marysville Y and Creator Zone each receiving $1,000 and Ngendala Water Global grant partnership with the Rotary Club of Arlington receiving $1,000 and ShelterBox USA receiving $500.

This has been an incredible year for our Club with donations to non-profits, scholarships, and the Lake Stevens Food Bank totaling $87,360. The distribution is $48,860 to the Lake Stevens Food Bank for the Rotary Teaching Kitchen; scholarships to Lake Stevens High School seniors at $25,000 and the balance of $13,500 to local non-profits and two international projects. Our Club is excited to be able to give back so much to the community. This couldn't happen without the support of our members, local businesses sponsoring these events and friends attending and supporting AquaFest (corn booth), Coin Quest and our Corks and Kegs major fundraisers.

Welcome to our newest member, Bob Howe. Bob has been a Rotarian for approximately 18 years. Bob is also a member of the Rotary Club of Seattle Northeast, so for now he is a duo-club member. Bob is in real estate and lives on the lake. Please give Bob a big welcome when you see him at Rotary Club events.

Bob & Ann will be hosting the Summer Martinie Party on Saturday, August 26th at their home, 11509 N Lakeshore Drive from 6 pm-10 pm. Reservations required. You can RSVP them at the above email.

Lake Stevens Food Bank-Final Payments

Today, at the Lake Stevens Food Bank in front of the Rotary Teaching Kitchen, Gary O'Rielly presented two checks to Anthony Hawley, Director of the LS Food Bank with our final commitments.

A bit of history.

During Scott Smith's term as President, he convinced the Club Board and Membership to save $5,000 over a three-year period ($15,000) as a commitment to the Lake Stevens Food Bank Building fund. Since that time, we have been involved in raising well beyond the sum listed above.

Earlier, we presented the LSFB with a check for:

$16,104.12 - Matching funds from Rotary District 5050.

$13,940.00 - Today, I presented a check from our Corks and Kegs - fund a cause.

$18,815.88 - Today, from our Club's original commitment and a bit more.

$48,860.00 The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens fully funded commitment.

The Food Bank was busy with lots of activities and seniors picking up food today that the effort by so many individuals, local citizens, the City, County and the State, made this all worthwhile and so worthy for our community.

Dave Duskin-Duck Dash tickets

District Governor Nominee Dave Duskin, a member of the Rotary Club of Arlington was here with DJ Lockwood selling Duck Dash tickets. The Duck Dash event at the Rotary Club of Arlington is their only fundraiser and a tremendous success for the club and the community. Dave will join us at our Installation Banquet on June 30th.
