Our auction last Saturday was very successful! Thank you to the Lake Stevens (and beyond) Community for supporting us. Thank you also to the hard-working cadre of members who pulled this together and made it a very fun event. We raised over $20,000 for the Bridge Receiving Center. Final numbers are still being tabulated and we'll have more information within a few weeks.

Our speaker this week is District Governor David Lukov. Governor David will give us a State of the District Report as well as talk about how District 5050 is Creating Hope in the World. He'll also share a bit about the upcoming District Conference. You do not want to miss this meeting! Editor's Note- my apologies to DG Lukov and DGE Duskin. I used the wrong photograph in the previous version of this bulletin.

There won't be a formal meeting on Friday, November 24th, but, if you are so inclined, you can join a handful of us at The Buzz Inn that morning.

Annual Corks & Kegs Fundraiser

Our annual Corks & Kegs fundraiser was held on Saturday, November 11th at Carlton Farms in Lake Stevens.

President Don Iverson opened up the Live Auction as he introduced Paul Rogers as our Auctioneer for the second year in a row.

Our Fund-A-Cause was for The Bridge Receiving Center. Providing some background on Bridge Receiving was Tracy Rubstello, Director of Development-Bridging Receiving Center and a regular visitor to our Club. The Club through generous donations of our members and guest raised $20,100 for the Center. Wow, what a fantastic tribute to our members, special guest and Bridge Receiving!

We could not have done this without the outside help of five members of the First Financial NW Bank thanks to Club member Steve Carmody from the bank. They staffed the registration desk, rechecking in attendees and closing out the final sales. We couldn't have done this without their very generous donation of time and expertise with the Greater Giving software.

Joining us for the evening was District Governor Elect Dave Duskin, Assistant District Governor and District Governor Nominee Kathleen Olson who were introduced by President Don Iverson. Thanks to everyone who made this such a special event.

Allison Jones - Apraxia Awareness

Our guest speaker via Zoom on Friday, November 3rd was Allison Jones who wanted to give us information on an Apraxia Awareness campaign that she is involved in because of her daughter Grace's apraxia. Understanding what everyone tells her, knowing what to say and fully aware of people not understanding her, she is constantly two steps ahead of trying to get whomever she is talking to understand what she is saying.

Grace deals with this on a constant daily basis. Yet does not seem to let this block phase her. She is truly an inspiring little girl. Grace just turned 5 on May 4th and was diagnosed a couple of months ago with childhood apraxia of speech and is still a fun happy energetic bubbly little girl.

They have begun the process of getting her an AAC device which is a speech-generating device. It is described by Allison, as a tool in Grace's toolbox that will help her succeed. Grace has a long road ahead of her with intensive speech therapy 2-3 days a week, occupational therapy once a week and two other specialty doctors following her. Despite this, Grace attends PreK class three days a week and is on a T-Ball team.

Allison is involved in an effort for everyone to understand want Apraxia Awareness is all about, working with the organization, communicating with people who need to be aware of this issue and help finding solutions that will benefit each child who has developed apraxia.
