The program at this week's meeting includes a presentation by the proprietors of Beeline Organic Honey Company, a locally based venture. There will also be an update on the various activities our Club is involved in.

Keep working on getting sponsors for our events as well as items to put in our upcoming auction.

Also, make sure you let Bob and Anne Howe know if you're able to attend their party coming up this weekend.

Snohomish County Sports Commission

Our meeting on Friday, August 11th was at The Creator Zone studios and our special guest speaker was Tammy Dunn, Past President of Everett Rotary and Executive Director of the Snohomish County Sports Commission.

Sports tourism is an economic driver in the United States with $39.7 billion dollars attributed to sports tourism. Sports tourism creates over 600,000 jobs with $9 billion raised in taxes. Funds from the hotels in Snohomish County created a $30 million dollar impact in 2018. However, the covid pandemic crushed sports tourism in 2019-2020.

The economic calculator comes from room nights and hotel revenue in Snohomish County as well as across the United States. Snohomish Big Foot event is the largest event in Snohomish County. Sports tourism is coming back. The Snohomish County Sports Commission is no longer attached to county government and is a stand-alone 501 (c)(3) organization. Fundraising is another major source of revenue.

Another Week of Community Service

Another week of community service starting with the American Red Cross Blood Drive co-op with the Lake Stevens School District. Setting up and getting ready on Friday, August 11th. Update: Rotary and community members donated 25 units of blood.

Lake Stevens Farmers Market on Wednesday, August 16th. Six bowls are set up and Rotary members ask market attendees to help us vote on where to donate our funds in 2023-2024. Plus, a suggestion bucket where they can select other organizations that are not listed on bowls.

Asking the community to select a non-profit listed on the bowls to help us decide where to donate our funds.
