Each year, a visit from the District Governor is a real treat. Last Friday's visit by District Governor Bill Robson and his wife Lona was another exceptional visit. The District Governor's visit according to Bill Robson entails three objectives and goals: discuss 1) Membership and our club is the most improved in the District; 2) Rotary Foundation which allows international projects all over the world to be accomplished and completed, and, 3) the District Conference which starts on April 28, 2016 in Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA.

Bill emphasized that the role of the District Governor is to represent all of the clubs in the district. The District Governor is not a club member but here for all of the clubs in the district. Polio Plus success is growing with no cases of wild polio being reported anywhere in the world in the last six weeks. Both Pakistan and Afganistan are close to eradication. It will take at least one year to know whether we have totally eradicated polio. The results would be a terrific gift "TO THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD."
DG Bill awarded Jim Kelley with a Paul Harris + 1 award. He inducted our two newest members; Cindy Mahan who was sponsored by Reshal Ploeger and Laurie Westover who was sponsored by her father,  Loren Hole. Both Reshal and Loren were given new member Sponsor pins. Two years ago, a Rotarian in Australia started "The World's Greatest". And District Governor Bill presented Rotary World's Greatest pins to Joyce, Loren, Gary and Bill.

District Governor Bill threw out a challenge from the Arlington Club that they are the real "Duck Dash" club, so the challenge has been delivered by Jeff Huleatt, the Arlington Club's president when DG Bill attended their meeting this week.  After the meeting, a brief Board meeting was held with District Governor Bill Robson. We want to extend a special thanks to Marc Baker, Assistant District Governor for Area J, and District Governor Bill Robson and his lovely wife Lona. Also attending was PDG Harv Jubie and District Governor Elect Scott Dudley. Bill Robson was raised in northern England and migrated to British Columbia. As a banker, he moved all over British Columbia. Bill and Lona have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Rotary District 5050's Networking Plus was rolled out to the Lake Stevens community this week. Networking Plus is an innovative networking tool designed by Mount Baker Rotarian Greg Penner. If you are looking for a Rotarian owned business or a business that has Rotarian employees you can use this tool to find it. If you are a Rotarian you can use this tool to promote your company. Use the links here or on our home page to find a company or register your company. Networking Plus uses the robust Google Maps location software to visually display to potential customers where the business is located. Start exploring Networking Plus and support Rotary owned and operated companies.

"I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself."

Thought of the Week - Who Said It?
"Primarily Rotary seeks to apply the theory of service to business and community life...This is expressed in the first part of our code of ethics: To consider my vocation worthy and as affording me a distinct opportunity to serve society. He Profits Most Who Serves Best is a less ideal expression, but the suggestion of egoism is removed by the added words Service Above Self."
