The featured speaker at this week's meeting is Tina Mandella of the Lake Stevens Community Resource Center. She is the Site Director for the Center which is operated by the Volunteers of America. Tina last visited with us a year ago and this week she'll give us an update on how things are going now that the Center has a new home at the Food Bank.

Club Holiday Party

Last Friday evening, our Club enjoyed our Holiday party at Penn Cove Brewery in Lake Stevens. Rotarians work hard and play hard enjoying a fun evening with one another. The White Elephant giveaway was perfect with many surprises.

Included in the evening events was an UGLY SWEATSHIRT contest hence the reason for all of the outrageous costumes. So much fun and entertainment. Food was great, the company outstanding and the comments were various humorous.

Classification Talk

Lance Morgan gave his Classification Talk on Friday. He was raised on a cherry farm in The Dallas, Oregon. Attended WSU and was on crew there. Instead of pursuing an interest in the cherry farm, he joined Morgan Stanley for his initial job as a receptionist. After participating in the mortgage lending industry, Lance opened his own Mortgage Lending Company through C2 Financial as a small independent business.

Lance enjoys working with and helping people. He described himself as heads down, working hard to help people achieve their home ownership. His hard work ethic is an outgrowth of his early childhood working on the cherry farm. The farm was 120 acres in The Dallas with another 20 acres devoted to raising farm animals such as turkeys, pigs and more. His parents bought the farm in 1985. He had to work for everything that he got. He said he had a cool upbringing. Family eventually sold the farm.

When he moved to Lake Stevens, he was looking for a networking group and stumbled on the work and service to the community of our Rotary Club and decided he wanted to become an active member.

Rotarian Guest from India

We had a Rotarian visitor from India on Friday. Our guest was Nagar Mittal. Here are his comments below about his Club.

I have received many blessings from God. The Rotary family is definitely one of the best ones. I believe the purpose of our lives is - to be happy and make others happy and I have found an opportunity to do both at Rotary. I currently serve as the President of Rotary Club Sri Ganganagar city in the state of Rajasthan, India.

Our Club was formed in 2000 with 25 men to study water and sanitation at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since last year we have been operating an 24/7 fully equipped ambulance, which has saved at least 200 lives so far. In this year alone (since July), there were 15 new Rotary Clubs formed in our district - which is a new record for Rotary Clubs worldwide.

And I have been fortunate enough to be able to personally donate $10,000 this year to the Rotary Foundation. Thank you!

Please let me know once the bulletin is published, I would love to share it within my club as well. Thanks again for having me at the meeting. Looking forward to staying in touch.

Membership Dues

Members- invoices were sent to you for the semi-annual dues and voluntary contribution to The Rotary Fund (EREY). You can also be proactive before the invoices are sent. Cash, check, Venmo are all acceptable ways to make that payment. If you have yet to make your dues payment please contact the Treasurer to let him know when you will take care of this. Check your email for the invoice and be part of the Paid group. Thank you for supporting your Club.
