Last week's meeting A good group of club members met on June 2 for our first Wednesday evening social night. We took advantage of the good weather and met at the Village Hall picnic tables. Susan Fisher and George led a discussion regarding the direction of our DEI program. This week's meeting On Wednesday, June 9 we will welcome Kristin Bernhard, J.D., Sr. Vice President, Advocacy & Policy at Start Early. For nearly 40 years, Start Early (formerly known as the Ounce) has been a champion for quality early learning and care, focused on closing the opportunity gap for children from before birth through their earliest years. Kristin leads the advocacy and policy strategy at Start Early, where she oversees teams that advocate, consult and connect to ensure stronger early learning systems in communities, states across the country, and federally. Kristin will introduce us to Start Early and their work, as well as discuss current historic federal policy advancements in early learning, including how President Biden’s American Rescue Plan and American Families Plan have the opportunity to shape early childhood education for generations to come. - Jim Pockross shares with us that on June 11th our club will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day. Members are asked to use their time and creativity to show kindness to someone or something....more to share at our Wednesday meeting.
