New President Ron Knight’s Welcome Message…

New President Ron Knight’s Welcome Message…

Our club is dedicated to helping people that are in need both in our community and across the globe.  We build fellowship through service to our community.

Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905, and currently has over 35,000 clubs and about 1.2 million members around the world.  Rotarians strive to build international relationships, improve lives and create a better world to support our peace efforts and work relentlessly to end polio forever.  In trying to achieve these objectives, we focus on seven areas of service:

1.     Promoting peace;

2.     Fighting disease;

3.     Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene;

4.     Saving mothers and children;

5.     Supporting education;

6.    Growing local economies and

7.     Protecting the environment.

Our members contribute in many ways – by planning and participating in fundraising events, by donating their time for various community projects and for other necessities (such as blood donations, mentoring young people, and delivering food and clothing to the needy), and through personal financial contributions.

We are a fun-loving group that does not take ourselves too seriously and we promote an atmosphere of “work hard, play hard,” which builds long-lasting relationships and a strong sense of camaraderie among our members.

Our core values are Friendship, Leadership, Integrity, Diversity, and Service! I look forward to serving our club this year!

2021-22: Serve to Change Lives - RI President-elect Shekhar Mehta is urging members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving other is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.

They’re hoping to find nine clubs to contribute $250 to co-sponsor, and then to participate in, a private training session.  Barrington Breakfast is a newly-designated Peacebuilder club (by the Rotary Action Group for Peace), and has a very active Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Contact Suzanne Gibson  or Maria Peterson  with questions or to commit.
  • HELP NEEDED: We’ve unearthed a listing of every one of our District’s Rotary Youth Exchange students – inbound or outbound, long- or short-term – up to 2006.  See the listing starting on Page 60 of this document.  Can you help us bring this listing up to date?  Send information to District Exchange Chair Rebecca Dunleavy or DGND and Youth Service Coordinator Mary Bak.
