We are grateful for your generosity
“Twenty-one members donated almost $4,400 for the ‘Donate Your Lunch Money’ campaign.
We are grateful for your generosity!”

We all recently received a lovely mailer from Rotary International that was not just asking for annual support- but sharing how your dollars really work.

Did you know that $1400 provides power and hand tools along with training support in Costa Rica, expanding opportunities for local female entrepreneurs?
A hand washing station is $150. This WASH in schools’ program includes clean water, teacher training to educate students on best hygiene practices.  $85 provides classes for low-income entrepreneurs on building their businesses in the U.S.A. Conflict resolution training for secondary school children is a way to help build peace for $1000.  Medical equipment for newborns is $200, and in the Dominican Republic a water filter can be had for $50.  A gift of $15 provides polio vaccines that helps protect a child for life!

Your gifts large and small make a difference. Reminder that all your donations to Rotary are tax deductible if made prior to December 31, 2020.  You have the power to promote peace, provide clean water, support education and so much more. We make it easy – you can donate at rotary.org/donate or at our website now!

We get thank yous!

WE GET THANK YOUS:
From Rotarian Jim Karagianis, who is also the NSO President, offered a big Thank You to the club for its support of the NSO along with this update:

My Friends:  I just wanted to share with you that the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra in addition to its instrument drive, which results in the donation of musical instruments to underserved school children, is also streaming its concerts to their schools all free of charge.  We believe in our motto “Music is Life” and act to bring that life to underserved communities.

We enthusiastically believe and know that music does change these children's lives for the better by altering their trajectory, changing their peer group, teaching them discipline which is required in the learning to play an instrument and allowing them to experience the feeling of self-worth by their accomplishments. These experiences were previously denied to them because of their economic condition.

These gifts are game changers for these kids. The streamed concerts are many times the first time they have seen Classical Music performed by young artists right in their own schools.

PLEASE NOTE:  Musical Instrument Donations are being taken at The School of Rock in White Plains Plaza on Dundee.

Another Thank You was sent to Carlos, Scott, and Mitch from last week’s speaker Alisa Martorano, Director of Development, Total Link 2 Community

“I wanted to thank you all so much for the opportunity to speak at the Rotary meeting on Tuesday.  Joan and I were so thrilled to be able to share more about TotalLink and how resilient our organization and the young adults we serve have been throughout the pandemic.   We are so thankful for all the generosity the Rotary has shown us. Your grants, volunteerism, and being a champion of TotalLink, has allowed us to continue our mission and help the young adults we serve thrive during these difficult times.

Thank you again!  Wishing you much happiness this holiday season.”

Feed6 Family Pantry Pack Program
Update on the Santa Workshop –  the Feed6 Family Pantry Pack Program

The “Santa Workshop” was not about packing grocery bags for people in need, it was an interactive, collective zoom event that had Rotarians creating fun, and personalized packs of hope and nutrition.

The event, created by the Feed6 crew, had volunteers creating a dozen pantry packs that reflected their ‘giving heart, personal creative style, and the deep respect for those who receive this holiday treat.’

Our 11 Rotarian volunteers, funded by a district grant, had free reign to decorate each of their boxes inside and out with paints, sharpies, crayons, stickers, or stickers to the box’s outer surface.  The boxes will be collected and shipped to surprise families in need this season. Thank you Mitch for coordinating!
