Last week our speaker, Jeff Isola, told us about Safe Families for Children. This is a movement fueled by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Through Host Families, Family Friends, and Family Coaches, children are hosted temporarily and a network of support is provided to families in crisis while they get back on their feet.
Be sure to attend the new President and Officers' installation dinner for the coming Rotary year on the evening of June 27th at the Community Arts Center in Buffalo Grove starting at 6 pm. Let's all support Bill and his officers and celebrate this present year's accomplishments and leadership!! There will be no lunch meeting that day.
The dedication of the pier that our club donated to, and the bench in honor of Dennis Gilbert, will be held on June 13 at 6 pm at Green Lake Park, 1101 Green Knolls Dr, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089.
Immediate Past President Ryan is taking applications for individuals for the Bill Reid Community Service Award. The award is to be given to an individual whose long term community efforts have resulted in the enhancement, betterment and improved spirit of the Buffalo Grove Community. The late Bill Reid was a long time Village Trustee and a charter member of our Rotary Club. All nominations are due by June 1, 2019.
Scholarship grants in the one-time amount of up to $2,000 each will be awarded to support educational programs preparing students for careers with a four-year degree. Grants require acceptance into a Bachelor Degree college program.
This is required of an applicant:
One completed and legible application with supporting documents.
Two letters of reference.
Transcript of high school and/or community college (if applicable) grades.
The Rotary Motto is “Service Above Self.” Share how you have demonstrated this motto in an essay of up to 500 words.
