Last week our speakers were our club member Martha and Jenny Maltas, the deputy village manager of Buffalo Grove, who talked about their reasons for volunteering for the American Cancer Society's community event, Relay for Life, that will be held on June 9th from 3 to 10 pm at Twin Groves Middle School. You can see the details for this event, please click HERE, as well as decide whether to donate for either the Village's team (Jenny is the captain) or the Park District team (Martha is the captain). The two teams are in a friendly competition for donations. Please stop by for the survivor's walk, the family games, or just to show support for the volunteers.
Some of our club members participated in Salute, Inc.'s Memorial Weekend 5k Walk. As you may remember, SALUTE delivers short term financial assistance to bridge the temporary income gaps and meet the basic needs of post 9/11 veterans. Thanks to those who participated in the fundraiser walk!
President Elect Shawn has set the date for the installation of the new officers for the evening of June 19 at 6 pm at the Buffalo Grove Park District's Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road. Save the date!!
Our Foundation Chair, Tom, is encouraging members who have not as yet made any monetary contribution to our Rotary Foundation. If they contribute $100, he will generously match it. Your donation makes a difference to those who need our help most. More than 90 percent of our donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world.
