Stories
Last Week's Meeting
Last week our speaker was Ravi Rade, a leadership coach from the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute (SIYLI) that was established in 2012 as an independent nonprofit organization. Since then, Search Inside Yourself has become a globally recognized program that works with corporate, nonprofit and government organizations around the world.  SIYLI strives to teach people tools for compassion, empathy and wisdom so that they can create a better world for themselves and others and contribute to world peace within our lifetime.  Ravi was successful in getting our club to meditate as he taught us about mindfulness.

February 14th Meeting
We heard from Will Beiersdorf, a veteran who founded Palatine-based Salute Inc. in 2003 to help out fellow veterans financially. Today he serves as executive director of the Road Home Program at psychiatry department at Rush University Medical Center. It treats what Will calls the “invisible wounds of war”: posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other types of military-related trauma. “If someone has lost a leg or an arm, you can see that,” he says. “But when you’re dealing with someone who’s got a traumatic brain injury, you don’t know what they’re going through.”   Will encouraged us to spread the word about this amazing and needed program.
