Community Service Projects

Rotary believes community service is a fundamental part of its mission, encouraging members to actively improve their local and global communities through various projects and initiatives. 

Community service as more than just a task, but a mindset and a way of life that benefits both the giver and the recipient. Rotary empowers its members to use their skills and resources to address local needs and contribute to a better world. 

 

Past community service projects completed by the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine include:

  • Rotary information booth at Welcome to Timmins Night

  • Youth Exchange 2013-2014: Rotary sponsored a Timmins student who went to Mexico while a student from Croatia came to Timmins

  • 2 shelterboxes for relief from typhoon in the Philippines Nov 2013

  • Ham for the Holidays campaign and donation of hams to the needy

  • Participation in & donation to Stan Fowler Telethon Dec 2013

  • Christmas Wish - in support of Timmins & Area Women in Crisis

  • Donation to Costello Commun8ty Centre renovation

  • Support for Brantford Rotary Club "Ride for Kids" as Rotarians & friends rode through Timmins

  • Free hot dogs at skating oval in Hollinger Park on Family Day

  • Escape program for trips and cash

  • Timmins Snowcross championships - Rotary operated a beer tent for participants

  • $5,000 donation to the new Gillies Lake Promenade

  • Donation to support children attending Camp Bickell

  • Donation to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets

  • Donation to Porcupine Music Festival

  • 4 high school students selected to attend Rotary leadership camp in Oriillia in April

  • Lobsterfest May 31 at the Dante Club
