Carole Robitaille is a Duputy Warden with CNCC, which is operated by Management Training Corporation. Carole had a unique approach to educating the club about CNCC as she told the story of uncarceration through the eyes of a hypothetical inmate.
Carole talked about how this inmate might have ended up at CNCC and explained that the facility houses inmates ranging from minimum to maximum security requirements. We also learned about the orientation process.
MTC runs the jail with a goal of rehabilitation and has designed programs with that goal in mind. Inmates have the opportunity to earn different levels of freedom within the facility by observing the rules and participating in programs offered by MTC.
These programs choices include academic, industry training, institutional work, rehabilitation, spiritual services and programs and several other program options.
MTC works under the theme of "Don't just serve time, make time serve you." They strongly encourage inmates to take advantage of services and programs to improve their chances of getting ahead upon release.
MTC has taken the approach of working with people to change their internal impressions of themselves, helping them to get to the next level. Their goal is long term rehabilitation. The date, MTC has handed out over 2000 certificiates and has had over 500 high school graduates.
